hi,

i've just got an M Audio 1814 and am using it to do some live recordings with my laptop.

all goes well with things when i'm testing it all out at home (recording using cubase SX), but when i get to the gig and the PA guy gives me some feeds (direct outs/inserts) they are nearly always too loud (especially the signals from mic's), even with the record level knob turned right down and the pad button in etc.

am i doing something really silly, my home setup doesn't give signals anything like these - it all records sweetly.

at the moment i think that i may need something to go between the mixing desk and the M Audio box to attenuate the signals - what could i use/is this a goof idea? i don't want to change the incoming signal content detrementally (although anything is better than digital clipping)

thanks in anticipation,

jon
