I think the MK012's would be better if you are just looking for drum overheads...BUT...the B1's will do a lot that the mk012's wont. You can stick a B1 on almost anything and for the most part get good results...
you can find them though..you just have to look...I got mine from a member here for only $150 for the pair..and they are the Russian models...which is what you want if you get them. I dont know what the guy was thinking to let them go at that price... but im glad he did...
the russians are better, but the chinese are ok for the price too, just a little brighter and not as good in the lows. still a worthwhile mic at 70$ (or less) a pop.
i got a pair of the oktavas off of ebay for $230... tried them on overheads, great for lighter pop/indie/rock. i went back to my v67's for now though, mainly because the russians sounded way too good on toms for me to put an sm-57 or e609 back on them.
I got lucky and scored my Oktava MK012's on eBay as a used pair for less than $100 about 2 years ago...they're practically matched! I'm not a big fan of buying used mics sight unseen and hearing unheard but they are great mics.
The B1 suggestions are good as far as new mics, but for $100 you probably won't find 2 new.
I guess I cant say from my own experiance that they do not...but I have the Russian ones...and they sound AWESOME...from what I have read...the chinese models do not compare...
