So I got a new matched pair of JM27's last week because I got a great deal on them. Today my used Oktava's came in, and I've had the two ADK hamburgs for a few years. Decided to see which I liked better for drum overheads.
Mics set up in the so called Recorder man Fashion. Recorded through my firestudio's pre's, no nothing added, just the raw tracks.
OKtava's and JM27's have similar gain. at in between 11 & 12 O clock
ADK Hamburgs w/ -18 db pads on (they were too hot without them) at about 1 'O clock on the dials.
All panned 65% to their prospective sides. Left is left, right is right.
Guess which are which? Which one do you prefer?
Will post answers tomorrow.
PS I am NOT a drummer. I just happened to pick up this drumkit for couple hundred bucks so my drummer has something to practice on...I try but don't expect much
edit; listening back, i should a hit more cymbals. heh.
