Hi everybody:

I posted a question yesterday and have received lots of good suggestions. I'd like to ask another one now:

If you had $200 US dollars to spend (or less) and wanted to get two overhead mics to record a rock and roll band in a garage (literally, a garage!), what would you get? (Nothing too esoteric, please - I want to stick with tried and true manufacturers.)

We'll eventually be purchasing several other mics (Shure SM57s) for individual tasks, but right now we have just enough money for a dual overhead setup. We'll be recording to a BOSS BR-8 or a PC-based system.

Thanks again in advance!!

You can get two Behringer ECM8000's and a Marshall V67 and you'd still be under $200..... tax included!!!! ;)

Well.........

Right now, I've been eyeballing the new ste of matched Rode nt5's but that's 300 bucks and you said 2.

So.......

Either of the above is good advice. If you really want just good dedicated OH's, I'd get the MXLs.

The ECM's are a sweet deal on a budget but your room will really come into play with these a bit more.

I'd get the MXL's.

Yep.

That's what I'd do.

Happy recording and death to the first born of all who oppose you in your happy venture,
