FYI, Ovation USA is apparently shutting down permanently and production of those lines will move to Korea. In the mean time, the lower end USA lines are on sale to liquidate the existing stock. If that's your kind of axe, this might be a time to pick up a deal.

Cheers,

Otto

It seems that my local dealer was a bit too much of a pessimist... Ovation USA is going to make some adjustments, but will continue. The factory rep who was here when I bought a pair of Elite T's made it clear that that model line is moving to production in Korea by year's end. Some other lines will probably go overseas and some Guilds will come home. Other lines will disappear, perhaps to reappear in revised form while some go up in price. But Ovation USA will continue to make guitars.... Anyway, the sale prices on the Elite T and some other models are apparently still available and may continue until production shifts overseas.

Cheers,

Otto

Gee, and just a month ago Fender sent out a letter saying that their purchase of Ovation wouldn't have any effect on Ovation's production.

Hmm. Must've just been a coincidence, no?

;)

See, I'm out of the loop not being around a guitar store. I didnt know FMIC bought them. Did they buy all of Kaman or just Ovation?

edit.. a quick google search tells me all of Kaman back in October. Wow, don't know how I missed that. Thats what happens when you're busy working.

Well, I still have my 1982 Glen Campbell Special, had it for 18 years......

That's my story and I'm stickin to it..... :D

Doesn't Fender buying up every guitar manufacturer that comes on the market violate the Sherman Antitrust Act?

hahahaha the sherman antitrust act! haven't heard of that one since back in 1890!

No, because they are only buying half of the guitar companies out there. Gibson is buying the other half. At least Fender tries to keep the other companies in production, and usually does a pretty good job with them. Gibson just runs companies into the ground.
