Here's my problem. I did the soup dish thing, you know, to keep my guitars humidified. But the water in the sponge got all over the soap, and the soap softened into sort of a goo, which oozed through the holes in the soap dish and leaked out. Most of the damage is on the neck, which is badly stained. But with the sliperryiness of the soap on the neck, I can can play faster than ever before, so that's a plus. (Actually, being able to reach the wrong note faster is nothing to celebrate.) But I can't have a soap dish humidifier that damages my guitar, so I have contacted a plumber, and we are installing a sprinkler system. A slight modification to the case to take a brass fitting, and I won't have to worry about the wood cracking ever again. Of course, the wood may bend a little. If it does, I'll get a steel guitar. No, that will rust. Ah, screw it. I'm going for an Ovation.
