ok, while this mix is still pretty rough its probably our best sounding so far. very little eq/etc, just a bit of chorus on te vocals and a bit on the drums/guitar to brighten things up

any/all opinons would be appreciated, one of the guys came into the jam with that song and we hammered that down in about 30 mins :P

thanks!

Ew, this has all the earmarks of a bad home recording. That guitar sound is all highs and no mid or low frequencies. It sounds like a tube screamer pedal straight into the recorder...awful. The drums are tinny and hashy on the high end with very little kick sound. I can hear the small space you are recording in which is not complementary at all. The bass is barely audible. The vocal sounds ok in contrast. The lead playing could be cut from the song completely and it would be all the better for it. If he could pull it off it may be cool but not like this.

But the song sounds pretty cool. Record it better!

i realize the quality isnt the best, were still in the process of getting used to the gear we have and making the best out of it. believe it or not, its much better then what we have done but overall i agree that it needs a ton of work to be better, we're still in our recording learning phase since we really only started recording a month ago.

thanks for the comment!

How are you recording the drums?

The image of the drums is small, and makes the whole song sound boxy. Some room treatment and some care into mic choice and placement can give you a stereo drum image that breathes a little bit.

we have a mic on the snare/kick/floor tom/hi-hat and 2 overheads. the mics were using arent exactly the best things ever, but they should be giving us a bit better of a sound. i've got a sm57 on my guitar cab now and it still kind of crappy, not really the sound im going for

back to experimenting i guess :)
