I'll take a bt :) , prefer key C Maj for improv, in fact lets make this rumble based on your bt. everyone use it.

your re, that sucks, the guy didn't post, that is. Can you do cross string tapping? I can't get that on guitar but I do have a pretty good 8 well, 5-6 finger at a time - technique.

See how good my threads turn out....either headshredding...titties......with a spank or two there....and now a rumble is brewing..!!!:D

Later doods...work is calling!!

Oh by the way...the little gal is like 18 years old and yes, she's gonna smoke ya all....:p

No, I don't tap at all, that was the main part of the joke. I had to learn for the bass rumble, of course that wasn't anything too fast, but I had a good time with it.

Cmaj eh? Putting a cramp in my style, I usually work atonally, but I suppose the backing track can be tonal.

Just for a heads up, I'm thinking for a backing track I'll cut something inspired by the title track off Pet Sounds, minus the guitar part.

Pet sounds, never heard it before, I did get a sampler of it on amazon, should be interesting, more of a "slow sweet melody-off" than a head cut, I'm game.

It should be right about at fat pitch tempo, so it's open to anything.

I normally play mid-tempo stuff, mostly eighths with a few sixteenths blended in for variety. I don't practice enough for 32nds anymore! I don't like to hang on a note too long, because it could be the wrong note! But I like rests now and again. Silence is good . . . hmmm, I should do a 4:33 RUMBLE! sometime :D

Anyway, Orianthi isn't really a shredder . . . she hardly even uses her pinky!

Pet sounds, never heard it before,
You sir are in for a musical education. Win or lose you are about to experience the genius of Brian Wilson after which nothing will ever sound the same.:D

All I can say is "Smile". ;)

The genius of Pet Sounds is very, very subtle, even as it is sublime.

Smile, on the other hand, beats you on the head with your obvious inferiority in comparison :o I'm just happy music like that is possible :)

I have BWP - Smile :p , no pet sounds :o , it's supposed to be inspired by though, not the real thing,

I'm off to bed now, let me d/l the track from here when done, I'll let you know when I get it, then we'll move over to the clinic....

let's get it on....

Uh, I have to record the track first . . .

There will be a thread in the MP3 clinic by the end of the night :)

That clip was from NAMM, no? Presumably she was getting paid to play. Nothing wrong with making money, but being a pro and caring what people think generally go hand in hand, that is if you want to make money year after year.

That doesn't really detract from the fact that that she may actually be enjoying what she's doing....

i saw her play (Orianthi) at a show here in Cali a few months back. She was the opening act for the Steve Vai tour.........

she has skills...........

.....and boy was it sure nice eye candy too!

my wife said to me...... " man! her bass player kicks ass!..."..............

...i replied....." what bass player?!!!? she has a bass player!!??"

....and my wife smacked me upside the head.....and said STOP DROOLING AT HER BOOBS!!!!

Hmmm... I just spent some time poking through the other videos of Orianthi there at YouTube.

Yup- she's good. *Much* better than the clip True linked shows alone. Damn good. Nice voice, too.

I had to click around for a while, but I finally thought the 2007 clip was good. Clearly her vocals have improved from the earlier clips.

I'd like to hear her get better songs than these in the Kelly Clarkson vein, but the industry is convinced that's what people what to hear, so what are you gonna do

I am fascinated by why she dislikes her pinky so much. She can use it well; her form during the rhythm sections is impeccable. But the solos, she reverts to a style of playing that mimics earlier players who simply didn't have that much dexterity, but worked it for all it was worth. Curious.

Well, I need all my fingers myself, it's hard enough to keep up otherwise. Django only needed two! Tony Melendez doesn't need any!

Well, I need all my fingers.....
Up until I read your words I had never given much thought about how true that is and how much I do rely upon using my pinky finger. I have very small hands and my longest stretch when playing at V position is to hit a Db on the high E string with my pinky. :confused:Pinky finger sounds gay.:D

I've learned to cheat my way through extreme reaches by comping complicated chord structures by utilizing open and alternative tunings when neccessary.

There was a particular tuning used by Nick Drake on one or more of his songs that caught my attention years ago.

The tuning he used was lo to high....D Bb C D C B

I managed to record a couple of instrumental tunes using that tuning and it was a struggle at first but I finally discovered the genius that Nick Drake was.

There are no limits to what you can do with 6 strings if you open your mind.
