For recording? A stereo SDC pair located... anywhere in the church. :D

No....not for recordng.....need to integrate the new organ into the existing sound system

A 58 would work if its this model:

Ahhh!!.....Lightning!!!!

Just kidding. :D What model is it?

If it is just a organ with a couple of speakers built into it, I say a SM57 would get the job done. To me its not a whole lot different then micing a guitar cab.

Why? Just tell the organist to use the bloody crescendo pedal. :D

Seriously, though... why? Does it not have enough speaker stacks for the location? (I'm assuming this is an electronic organ, since a pipe organ usually never falls into the "not loud enough" category.)

If it's an electronic organ you don't need any mic, is most likely has a line out.
Use a DI box with an earth lift switch.

. . .What Han said---but since you don't even know the name of unit, get someone in your church who doesn't take the "lillies of the field" concept so literally to look at it and hook it up.
