It should be here tomorrow.

My other pres are internal Tascam TMd4000's. I had a Bellari but it was stolen. Anyway I plan to try a few mics on it mostly for male and female vox. I may mic a guitar cab.

The mics would be these.

MXL990
MXL v67g
SP B1
a Nady condensor (dont know the model, 2 came with the Nady drum kit) Looks like a 603
AKG9000 I think. never used it but I think it's a condensor
Sure beta 5.1 I think. I got it around 1996 or so. It has a battery in it.

Anyone every used any of the configs? If so, what did you think?

Thanks

Malcolm

When you test the VTB-1 preamp with the SP B1 and the MXL67G mics, please post your result.

Which mic sounds better (to you) when matched with the VTB?

I have the MXL67G and the VTB-1. I am just wondering if I should replace the MXL67G with the SP B1 or not. Your result would help a lot.

Thanks.

Hey man, thanks.

I know how you feel, because I just ordered Cashew Chicken.

It should be here really soon.

I'll let all you guys know how the egg drop soup tastes, and whether I'd recommend the noodles or the white rice. Oh yea, that's right . . . that probably wouldn't help any of you guys.

Sorry.

Chess, normally, I can follow your snide, sarcastic remarks, but I'm having a hard time with this one. What commentary are you trying to make?

haha. i really enjoy his remarks too, and tend to agree with alot of them... but when you said that I just pictured Chess saying something like...

"I dont even know anymore man..."

Well, I thought this was the thread where we all shared with one another our excitement over purchases.

Malcolm was kind enough to point out that he made a recent purchase that he is (apparently) rather enthusiastic about. In kind, I felt it might behoove some of the fine folk on this board if I shared in the enthusiasm of one of my recent purchases.

So maybe you guys are Kung-Po or Scheschwan Chicken or Fried Rice people. That's okay, but you don't have to put down us Chicken and Rice guys in the process. Go and eat your fuckin' sushi, asshole. :D

Which one was it, chess?

The second or the fifth?

Either way, I agree. Cashews.

But is the orange glaze supposed to be this thick?

I use the VTB1 with B1's. You can expect a very quiet transparency with this combination, even turning up the tube circuit. I don't use the tube much, but my son likes it...

i like the VTB1 with the B1. i really like the VTB1 with my RE38, when loaded on the 50ohm load. meaties that one right up.

i don't use the toob at all, except when using the thing as a bass DI, and only then to add some of that distorted mud to the bass (think ampeg stack on 11).

certainly he could've bought a worse preamp for the money.

and are you SURE that's orange sauce there? :D

Cool, I will test them maybe this weekend. I was going to test them this past weekend , but I purchased a new mixing board that I have to fool around with for a minute.

I will give you the results,, well opinions are all they will really be.

I have the VTB-1, V67G and the SP B-1.

Each has thier strengths and their weakness' so each is equally balanced in replaceable and irreplaceable depending on what room, intrument, settings, eq and talent.
