orchestra plug ins?

Hi all,

I need to expand my sound library, and I am looking for a good plug in (RTAS) with some good orchestra/string sounds, mainly intended for postproduction work.

Any tips?

RTAS is the pro tools proprietary format no? hmmm well the only thing i can think of is to check out www.garritan.com . They have lots of products in the orchestra area.

I personally use the orkester soundbank that comes with reason. it is actually quite good. you can also get a larger strings refill as well. you could rewire reason into your pro tools setup. That may be more money than you want to spend though.

Although the samples on their homepage sound like ass, you can easily get great and convincing sounds out of this one with little effort and even less cpu strain.

some of the best strings i've heard are the Vienna Symphonic Library ones. Although they are samples that need to run in Giga, Kontakt or Halion.

EastWest Silver and Gold seem to be the choice out here. Sonically stunning.

Careful though as they are ridiculous memory hogs.
