to those guys that have helped out in supplying some info about my question, thanks.
to those of you who jacked the thread and turned it into some stupid argument about what is louder...how about you make your own thread and stop filling mine with stuff I (and pretty much noone else) really cares about?

I'm going to look around locally and see if anyone carries the line 6 amp. if not, i'll probably end up getting the orange

You said you like the way it sounds so I say go for it. There used to be this tiny VOX amp that I really liked at the store. It sounded really Brian May-ish and it was only $100. I waited two years and now VOX makes a different tiny amp and I don't like it nearly as much so it was a missed opportunity until I can find one used. I regret not getting that tiny VOX.

FWIW, once you launch a thread, you don't own it. Threads shift around all the time; it's free speech, my man.

Good God I agree with you on something.

Thats really really really great. Guess what, I ain't done with my opinion.

YOu ask for opinions and say you have an apartment. Well, a lot of people around here pimp tube amps. Well, tube amps and apartments have a slight problem mingling together.

So I have one last thing....

If you don't like it, you can kiss my ass and I might stop.

found a guitar shop in town today that I didnt know existed and they carried line6 amps.
I played through a couple different ones. (larger and smaller) and I am glad I didnt just order one because I hated the dirty tones it produced. Way over processed for me. So I fiddled around with some finders and peaveys but most were out of my price range.

After that I went back to my old standby Willcutt guitar (the place with the orange amp) to see if they had gotten in the epiphone they were expecting. Well they hadnt, but I did play through a couple of vox amps and I really liked them as well.
The valvtronix amps have alot of different tones and flexabilty like the spiders I played but without the overprocessed sound. I think this is what I'll be getting

I owned a Lin6 for a bit. It was a duoverb 212 and I thought it sounded pretty damn good at the time for my recording purposes anyway. I only jammed with it a couple of times and one of those times was a real ear opener. A friend of mine brought over a 50 watt marshall lead head and a 212 cab. We got our levels set with a drummer that was there and when we started playing, the Line6 just got buried. Even when I turned it up louder it just did'nt work well with my friend's tube head or alone with the drums for that matter. It was almost like I set the eq for a huge mid cut. We even tried cranking up the mids but it just would'nt cut thru.

I had the same experience with a Pod. It sounded great by itself, but when we tried to get it to mix over the PA with a mic'ed Twin, it just didn't cut it no matter what I did.

threads do take turns all the time but that does'nt mean that they should. he asked for help and we turned it into another never ending debate thread........amd vs. athlon, ford vs. chevy, tape vs. digital,............it really seemed to be a pointless debate anyway. tubes are louder. :D

No they're not. Pbbbbbt! ;^)
