I am looking at expanding the input count on my Presonus Firebox from 4 ins to 6 through the s/pdif connectors. I looked around and being on a cheap budget, I can't find anything under $200 that has mic pres and conversion. I heard about the M-Audio/Midiman Flying Cow, but I haven't been able to find any on eBay or anywhere else. I can't afford some of the other things i was looking at (some dbx and ART stuff) but I stumbled upon this:

Behringer Ultramatch Pro

MF Page

It seems like it is meant to convert between different digital signals, but it has analog ins and outs too. Do you think it would be possible to use the analog ins and convert those to s/pdif out? I am fine with clocking on the behringer, and i have a mixer that i can use for mic pres. Does this seem like a viable option? New they run about $130 but on ebay i have found them for closer to $60. And if this wont work for one reason or another, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

It appears that it would work as you describe. But I would like to hear from someone who has used one to be sure.

Just over $200 new: ART DPS II

But if you're going to spend $200, suck it up and spend $550 to change over to a Motu 8Pre....
