Hi ya! I am "this close"(if you can't see my fingers, they are about 1/4 inch apart) from buying a Br8. Before I make the plunge from my analog setup, I have a couple of questions.
1. Has anyone had any experience using the optical out on the br8 to a stand alone cdr? If so, what were you results like?
2. Has anyone had any experience with 'bouncing' tracks on the Br8? What were your results like?
3. Does the lack of sweepable mids really hinder your tonal manipulation?
4. Has anyone had any experience using the EV5 pedal for wahwah, or volume control?..How were your results?
5. My little brain LOVES SIMPLICITY, and the br8 certainly seems to be very simple to use with great quality from what I have heard in the local music store.
6. The best price I have found so far is from Caruso's, has anyone found a better deal?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Hey Timbea! Consider me one happy owner of the BR-8. I don't appreciate the confusion of some of the other machines out there, and the BR-8 really is quite eassy to get started with... in time (and with digging) you find out just how useful this machine is.

Optical outs? - yup, work just fine
Bouncing tracks? - didn't do, can't comment
No Mid controls? - No problem... In all my recording/mixing, i never found myself wishing it had that. Listen for yourself to the results... http://www.mp3.com/merrycherry. Every song (except the first one) was recorded with the BR-8.
Vol/Wah pedal - never used.

Even after getting a 16 track recorder, I'm still hanging on to the BR-8 instead of selling it. It's that good, and that easy. I think the best price I found was KTJ music...

good luck and enjoy!

ps - be sure to stock up on some Zip disks.. the BR-8 does kinda eat through them quickly.. and if you copy a song from one disk to another.. takes about ten minutes (depending on how many tracks you recorded)

Hey ranchfield!!! Thanks a bunch for your info....First hand experience means alot!!! I will let you know what I do and how it turns out!.....Once again, thanks!
