Hey I like this place!

Been recording in the basement for a few years. ProTools DAW system. But finally we're making the jump. We have a 24x40 steel building out in the woods. Power just got in and framing has commenced on a 16x18x9 tracking room and 8x16x7.5 control room. Box in a box concept with 2x6 framing throughout. The layers are as follows. Exterior steel skin on 6x8 framing sheeted with 2" sytrene on the metal. 5" dead air space, layer of 5/8 rock, vapor barrier, batting in 2x6 cavity, 1/2" OSB, 1/2" rock, canvas skin, and some ancient cleaned up barnboard 1x stock in varied widths gapped slightly.

The partition wall is 2x6 plates with 2x6 studs set sideways and doubled. Basically 2 walls with common plates. Layer from tracking towards control room is barnboard again, canvas, 1/2" rock, 1/2" osb, 2x6, 1" dead air, 1/2" rock, batting, 2x6, 1/2" osb, 2 layers 1/2" rock.

The entire tracking room is sitting on 2" of certifoam and two layers of 1/2" OSB railroaded. This will be finished this birch plywood when construction is over.

Control room floor is elevated 18" and we're not quite sure how to insulate that yet. Suggestions?

Now we kind of flew by the seat of our pants with some limited studying and research and made due with some materials we already had. We're dealing with the parallel walls with hinged large treatable panels in the tracking room.

Sooooo.....let me have it! How did we do and did we F UP major on anything? I will post pics as soon as I have some.

you'd probably get better responses if you posted this in the studio building forum.. they really know their stuff over there.
