Long time lurker, first time poster. The search function on this web site has been instrumental in my home recording knowledge, so I would like to thank you all for that first of all.

I am doing a favor for a local band and mixing a few songs for them. The first one is called "Now I See" and is located here:

Any advice/opinions on the mix would be appreciated. Note this is my first full-song mix, so don't be too rough :).

Also opinions on the song/singer/whatevuh would be helpful for the band to hear. Thanks guys

Hey man...
First my disclaimer...im not a professional and have limited experience... ok...
having said that,
I think this songs pretty good, it sounds alot like what its trying to, if that makes any sense, and is played alot better than many ive heard...
The drum tuning sounds great, especially the snare, the bass is on...Personally i would make the bass stand out a little more, it could be a little more prominent...
To me the (acoustic?) guitar that comes in at like 1:05 and at the end sounds a bit bottom heavy and muddy.
Aside from that the only other thing i would suggest would be to raise the volume of the entire track...
I like the tune though...a good start, to my ears at least ;-)

very nice tune, enjoyed the message. I think the skeleton is a little weak but the body is really nice. THe swing points of that meter is on 1 and 3 . If you were to bring that kick up and use a little more varied velocities on it, especially on 1 and 3 with an occasional hard hit on 2 it would give a little more sturdy and authoritive foundation for the tune.

first of all, the rythm section is very tight. well done.

the vocal is a little thin and crispy. acoustic could come up in the mix.

as for the song, i could do without the atmospheric production, but i never like that stuff anyway.

Excellent Mix !!!!!

Great voice.

And although reggae is not my cup of tea, this song pulls me.

Nice job.

Keep up the good work.

Sean

Ps.

If you spend some time reviewing others on the clinic, you will get reviewed a lot more.

Thanks all

I actually expected a more negative response (just the pessimist in me I guess), I appreciate all of your kind words and suggestions.

Sean - now that I have made the 'first step' of posting, I do plan on critiquing and offering what knowledge I might have. My field is more in sound reinforcement, but much of that knowledge is applicable here.

More songs on the way, in addition to more posts....thanks again
