Flailing up a storm.
Saw this advertised on local craigslist, anyone familair with it?
Weber Michigan 12 ceramic speaker. 12-inch, 8 ohms. Less than 2 hours of use. This is Weber's version of the EVM-12L.
Is it worth $70? I know little about speaker and amp building, I guess the only appeal here is that it is local.

I am looking to build a 2x 10 and/or 2x 12 cab someday here, but right now i want to get some good speakers to mount in my iso box. I was thinking about mounting several speakers seperately and slotting them into a frame inthe box (one at a time) so i can switch out for different styles.

Thanks,
Daav

You could get a brand new one for $90 plus shipping.

Thanks, i will be keeping my eyes open then.
anyone have any suggestions on what they would be looking for for a nice variety in 2-3 speakers?

Main sounds i wiull be looking to get from these is

a nice dirty OD for garage/old school punk sound
I have lately really like the very bright, metalic sound the hives got on their last album, i would like to do something like that as well here and there.
rockabilly and old school country twang
and smooth bluesy stuff as well

Here is my slant on it. That Weber is a very good speaker and would be great for playing live because of it's high effiency rating (SPL) it is a loud speaker (no pun intended). For an iso box I would try some of the less efficient speakers that is speakers with a lower SPL levels. This way when you push your amplifier it will not be as loud in the iso box. I am also building an iso box (5'L by 3' H by3' W) it is a little large but I place a reissue 50's fender deluxe cabinet inside my iso. When I first started trying speakers my first thought was to use my favorite guitar speaker the Celestion Vintage 30 (SPL level of 100db) I found this way to loud for the iso box. I happened to have one of those Jensen C12Q reissues lying around (SPL of 93.9db), IMHO when I originally tried this speaker I thought is was not the greatest sounding speaker but when I placed in the iso box it sounded great and it was a lot quieter than the V30. The long and short of it is try before you buy you might be surprised what sounds good and what does not.
