What do you guys think of this riff?

It's not a whole song, just a guitar track of a riff idea I have, so I didn't think it belonged in the MP3/mixing clinic.

The stuff I am writing is in the vein of Black Label Society/Corrosion of Conformity/Pantera/Black Sabbath/Alice in Chains at least those are some of my biggest musical influences. Basically southern stoner metal with a thrash twist.

Is it catchy at all?

Thanks!

I think it sounds great...stop hangin' around here and go finish it.

btw - it's nice to see more of the same influences coming around...most of those are influences to me also.

Any other opinions or feedback on tone? style? anything?

Just curious to see whether there is any audience out there for the style of music I am feeling...

Hmmm, well ... I'm not a fan at all of any of those bands you mentioned, but I thought I would give it a listen anyway. I think the tone sounds pretty good and fairly comparable to what I've heard in that style. The biggest thing that stuck out to me, however, was the total lack of originality. It's the kind of riff that's been done 1000 times, and it's very predictable. That's just my two cents.

wow, that sounds big, and I love the tone. How did you get it?

That was recorded with a custom patch I created for my V-Amp2 direct to an audiophile 24/96. if you have a V-Amp2 I could send you the patch. My practice/messing around guitar is a Hamer import double cutaway tuned to drop Db...

The tone was super badass. I have to sheepishly admit that the riff itself...I'm kinda neutral. Didn't suck at all, but there wasn't a whole lot to it. :o

It's nothing special.

The tone sounds ok by itself. It'd never work in a mix.

maybe you should play it clean sometime.
I think then u can really judge whats good and not.
though i like it this way
