hey sam - I didn't, we're about 5000 miles apart. I recorded a vocal track here in my little recording room in Manchester and emailed them across to KC who dropped them into his mix. Im glad it worked.

That's excellent!
A friend and I used to send the portastudio 4 track cassette back and forth in the mail!

Thanks Adam

I have the hugest Soul collection and I need to raid it more...theres tons of little samples I could raid and drop in tracks for some colour :)

Robs timings quite an improvement on mine...I wish I cared more about my vocals...I hope t employ some 26 year old female vocalist for either future projects or as a maid...not sure the wife will approve

btw got a poppy idea coming together Ill let you hear to see if it peaks your interest??

Sounds cool to me, KC!

Man, I hate it when I go a week without visiting this place.... So much to listen to. Anyway... I really like the new vocals on the 2nd track. The first track only had one nit from me... There was an arp that had a really poignant peak when it came around.... Listening to it at high volumes made me wince a bit there. Other than that, both sounded awesome on my ultra low-fi super-crap-a-delic ear buds here at work.

Good work, man.

Thanks J....yup id have to agree with the arp comment, i noticed a couple of other little parts that were untidy too...ive got to give evrything a final mix before i send it to Jan so ill address them there..

Hope to hear your second electro track soon mate

Super Jakes - Intro_Super Jakes.mp3

I'd want to work the vocal to bring it out a bit clearer - it's not just a level thing, I'd reach for the EQ, parallel compression, and some ducking. I'm not a fan of rap that stomps across the beat but this one gives enough of a nod to the music that it's not like the ones that sound like some guy nattering away in an empty karaoke bar. Arrangement-wise, it definitely needs a good middle-8. If there was one, I didn't notice it. I'd grab the outro and develop it and stick it in around 2/3 the way through.

Super Jakes - Cradle to the grave.mp3

I like the groove and there's more interest to the arrangement than in Intro. I'd be tempted to make a couple of subtle tweaks to the vocal but that's more personal preference and it really doesn't need it. Good work. Give it a cool video on YouTube and you could get some sales with this one.

Hey thanks for taking time to listen too both and critique

Ill have a tweak at those vocals, they actually took a lot to sit in the mix as is so im struggling a little with them...ive been tweaking the middle break, i have to revisit each mix before mastering so mayb something will come up

It seems cradle seems to have hit the mark as far as keeping interst, i think its a direction id like to expand on, minus some of the harsher synths

Thanks again, ill def take your comments on board
