Soundscape is cool on the first track. The rap vocals seem a little muffled to me - like they need to be clearer (but that could be my hearing as I am deaf in one ear and can't hear out the other...)

The new vox sound killer on that track (nice job Rob), don't hear the weird rhythm problems that i heard on the previous version

great stuff as always KC

You know, that doesn't work as well as you might expect...

I dunno - it might not help the music, but the cartoon wars were inspired. 'you got a purdy mouth' - I'm still laughing.

Hi KC,
This is the first material of yours I've listened to here.
Nice! :D

I KNOW I'm just being ignant now, but who's Rob (so I can come up to speed)?

Rob flanged, panned and auto-tuned - who would have thought it would work out so well. Good stuff!

he does sound good

I like his vocals as is but this is the FX I had in my head for this...hope he doesnt mind :)

I haven't got a constructive thing to say...
However, that freakin' horn section sample in C-2thaG (rap lingo, yes?) is AWESOME!
Also, the new singer has a nice voice and delivers the lines quite well.

Thanks Adam

I have the hugest Soul collection and I need to raid it more...theres tons of little samples I could raid and drop in tracks for some colour :)

Robs timings quite an improvement on mine...I wish I cared more about my vocals...I hope t employ some 26 year old female vocalist for either future projects or as a maid...not sure the wife will approve

btw got a poppy idea coming together Ill let you hear to see if it peaks your interest??

New track - very solid - no mud. The vocal (rap) sounds a little cheesey - not so much the style as the verbage itself. I'd have stopped after straight up but have cropped the Yo as that's a time signature of its own.
I really like the house of horrors beginning but I'm a sucker for that & the organ sounds REAL - I was actually hanging for more of it. What you were playing under the FX is really cool too!
Cradle 2 the Grave vox II:
Have you heard the album by Skull Snaps? That's break/sample heaven.
The vocals are not dissimilar to your own n'est pa? Good match - Rob's voice is smoother but I quite liked the edge on yours. It's a very good piece of music - well done matey!

thanks for listening to both Ray

yeah the raps cheesy...Im constrained to what I can cut up and fit...they could be singing a recipe for cheesecake for all I care..I hope by doing a track like this I could get a rapper to offer me something original by hearing a finished product

its a good organ patch huh? I couldve done a full on horror track...Im saving some wolf howling samples :)

maybe an outro track??

I have heard of the Skull Snaps, none f their stuff springs to mind...Northern Soul was my passion as a kid, I still listen to it, some riffs etc are just so damned catchy...glad you liked the new version mate

Writers block dude, IDK, since joining HR I've cut 7 tracks towards my CD, 4 got axed, 3 are done, two more are half done, just lacking motivation. Need to stick my finger in an AC outlet or something.

shit man, I havent had it yet...Id prolly quit ad take up water skiing or something lol

I dont know if it would help but I get tons of free loop CDs with my Mag subscriptions...sometime I just load a loop up, cut it up...or replicate it using a different instrument, 9/10 times it doesnt go anywhere but sometimes its enough to kick start something

Someone on Gearslutz just posted their EP after four years working on it  his style reminded my of yours, dont take four years!!

I don't hear it anymore in the new version, new version sounds fine. The first version in the other post is where I heard it, but it could have totally been my imagination, it just seemed like the timing of the vocals clashed with the beat, but like I said, I didn't notice any problems with the new version :) it's all good

we all kinda try and help each other out in here when we have the time...if not critiques are great help too
hope to hear one of yours up in here too :)

Thanks man, good stuff.

I'm coming, lots of shit to learn and advance preparation
to get my first simple piece recorded. It's like you have to know
a little bit about everything before you can even get started.

I think this is probably my favourite tune of kc's, so I'm really chuffed to both have been a part of it and to have made a positive impact. Excellent work mate, I think this mix sounds great.

Thanks all for your kind comments on the vocals too. I've been meaning to take down that linked version of Shadowplay until I get chance to do some retracking and mixing.

I'll have a listen to your other tune when I get chance. Too many Easter beers tonight for anything objective unfortunately :drunk:

Nice work.
Did you record the vocals in the studio where the song was recorded or at a separate location?

hey sam - I didn't, we're about 5000 miles apart. I recorded a vocal track here in my little recording room in Manchester and emailed them across to KC who dropped them into his mix. Im glad it worked.

Hope to hear something from you in here soon.
