Only Left Channel

Hi,

could be a bit of a silly question to do with mono or stereo - im not sure

Im recording through a mic that is connected to an Alice Mic-Amp-Pak 2 pre amp which is then connected to my mac book pro through the line in (no external sound card unfortunately). I am currently recording into garageband however when i listen back the audio only come through the left channel, i don't think its to do with garage band...

any help is much appreciated

1 mic = 1 channel

You need to set your recording software to record a mono track.
If you are using a stereo track (and it sounds like from the problem you describe that you are recording to a stereo track) then the software is looking for 2 inputs: one for left channel and a second for right channel and you only have one mic = one channel
