I think there has been two people that have looked at both of my posts. I took out the (lead) guitar which bogged down the entire song and I think it sounds much much much better and more clear. Please take one more listen to my recording and let me know whatcha think.

Remember, the lead guitar part is missing, and I KNOW that the rhythm guitarist gets off beat when he palm mutes. Hah.

Thank yous to everyone that listens (and hopefully gives feedback). :D

I am listening at a pretty low volume right now, and I can barely hear the kick. One the other hand, the snare is cristal clear. So, maybe you should try to get a better balance between the 2.

Ah, some nice punk music. It relaxes my nerves. :)

The guitar pretty much dominates the mix. The bass guitar is pretty much totally lost and the vocal get's drowned out some. You might want to work on the levels a bit. Beyond that, you might want to work on some stereo separation. The track feels basically mono, and some good use of stereo might help bring things out.

rah!

heavy man, my flat mate my loves this stuff so i`ll pass it onto him for a full stereo blasting critique....

I like it when the solo comes in. It seems to fit perfectly in his collection of Hives, Strokes bangers.....

No low end my friend. I can barely hear the bass and no kick at all. When the bass that went into the stop at around 1:50 it got loose.

Okay, about the stereo seperation, one guy said my drums were really wide and very stereo. As for the rest, bass and vocals are supposed to be centered (right?) and the remaining guitar part is supposed to have another guitar part, so instead of panning a little off to the right or left I just left that centered as well until I re-record the other part.

As for the levels, I'm mixing on some alesis m1s and I probably just got everything sounding good in levels, completely forgetting that the m1s have a lot of bass, so in everyone elses speakers the bass is mostly gone. I don't have a burner so I don't have any way of listening to it on another set of speakers yet. I'll listen to some more commercial cds and try and match the level of the bass and kick again. Thanks.

I just recently figured out what panning is all about. As I understand it, each track should be panned differently, like the layout of a stage. I've been messing around w/vocals and drums centered with rhythm git panned opposite from bass git, etc. It seems to be making a difference, though I'm sure there's more to it than that.

Have fun!

pretty cool..............nice high energy. Same comments as everyone else about the bass but it sounded ok on my rig........a bit thin but I could hear the bass well enough for the type tune it is. My 'puter speakers are fairly bass heavy though so everyone elses' comments are probably closer to the mark. I haven't had time to take it over to my reference system. listening to it wants me want to drink and dance. :)

I'd agree on the bass comments. Was the song clipping a little too? Bring that guitar down a little so it's not killing everything else.

Sounds like the drums and bass could use some healthy compression to help them sit better.

Your getting there.

Do you have any advice for compression setting for the kick drum, or should I compress the set as a whole?
