man, it just arrived...and I LOVE it already. I didn't know it was going to be so big...it's lovely. I don't know why some people think the M series is ugly..i love the color scheme.

Anyways, my question is - I am using an Aardvark Q10 soundcard...

would I be better off running the SPDIF output of the mixer into the Aardvark, or letting the Aardvark do the A/D conversion?

Not sure how high quality the soundcrafts converters are...but I would assume not *great*..of course the aardvark isn't great either...but it's ok. just wondernig.

I read in an earlier thread that the spdif-out of the M-series is 16/44.1. It probably true is because the Soundcraft site doesn't say anything about it. So it must be a bitrate they're not really proud of. :)

It IS a big bastard, at least bigger than you expect it to be.

The problem I have, is for it to work correctly, I would imagine the card and board need to sync... since there is no wordclock in or out on the M8, then the card will have to sync to the timecode embedded in the s/pdif stream. Personally, I do not want to clock everything to the M8, just doesnt sit well with me.
