I have protools, is it worth getting a external graphic eq or should i just use plug ins?

Use internal ones.
Most people don't like graphic EQ for recording anywaus, because it is kind of non-musical. Look into the use of parametric EQ. Your PT LE has that built in too. Once you learn how to use it, I think you'll like it.
