One for the kids!

Okay, a local highschool does this compilation CD every year. Students at the school write some poetry and submit it. Local songwriters/performers go through the submission and pick a poem to work with. They compose music and a melody for the poem. Neato!

So, the owner of the studio I work at is hired to master it last year. He decides this year to take on a song for himself.

I tracked the drums and guitars, did a lot of the editing in Sonar, and helped mix up until the vocals were added in (had to leave to go to another job, so I couldn't help finish the mix...). Anyway, I just got done doing a little work to it in Wavelab.

I heard that the kid who wrote the lyrics was fairly pleased with how it all came together.... LOL.....

Highschool kids are fun....our studio organised a contest for all highschoolkids in a wide area. 8 bands were selected for recording their song in our studio. 1000 cd's are printed ofwhich 500 are given free to the bands, and the other 500 for a fictiv amount. The bands can sell all these cd's and take the profit to buy gear or stuff. Big succes, it even got mentioned on national tv. Now it almost got us broke, but some big sponsors are going to support us next year.

I really like this one. The mix that is. THe vocals seem really polished, and I really like the space they are in and the eq on them.

The vocal sound reminds me of nickleback. Quite proffesional, but the drums dont sound as punchy as nickleback. The guitar also does not sound as big. Is this a simulator or a real amp?

I just listened again to nickleback, and yes, your drums sound different, but not by much at all.
