Yeah, everybody remembers those dark days when the only european connection to Libya was Malta...we're not exactly very fond of Libyans :D
When you go for a drive in Malta, you've gotta be careful you don't run out of road and fall into the sea:D:D

Here's an interesting Maltese metal site:
http://undergroundfactory.ning.com/

and while you're at it, check out this incredibly talented and beautiful Maltese singer:

;)

LOL, growing up there, I didn't like Libya or the Libyans either. But now that I've been away, I've remember the little things. Like how hospitable they are. Or like how you could leave your car unlocked and just go into your house. Overall, I miss those days. :) Most of all, where ever one grows up, it ends up being the best place in the world. But I bet the influx of a bunch of weirdos from down south caused quite a havoc during those years. The seaports used to look like zoos.

I'd love to go visit Malta and Libya and all those places again some day.... God Willing....

They sound damn good man!

Thanks!

You can hear more of 'em in the "Prelude Continued" thread here in the clinic. I think they really shine on the "sweet solos" in the middle over the classical piano parts. (THere's a ton of guitar parts in the song--but they're all that guitar.)

(Sorry for hi-jacking the thread Joe!) :D

No problem, Bob ;)
like I always say, musicians are one big family......
and this is your song too now :)

My my my, but you do have a set of great pipes on you Joeym!!

Your comment about aging..right on...keep telling that bod it ain't what it seems...it's all a dream...of what was...where we been...finally come to rest...with less and less...but a dream, yes...

Strat...your playing is awesome...that word is common in my posts about your playing...I'll need another descriptive as not to become repetitive.;)

Kudos guys!!!

I hesitated to post here, since I played on the song--and I'm not interesting in patting my own back--but I just have to say this: doing this for me was both a piece of cake and a thrill. And both for the same reason--Joe wrote, played & sang such a great song, everything I added practically played itself. It's pretty easy when the heavy lifting has already been done! :D

Chilli, Sardegna is a dream :)

if you look at the Mediterranean on a map, you'll find a tiny little dot right under Sicily (looks like a fly shit there....:D), that's Malta....
you must have had a damn good periscope!

Oh, I know where Malta is. During my time in the navy, I've driven by pretty often. Stuck the periscope out of the water and got to take a look once or twice. Long time ago, now. I'd like to spend a year sailing through the med with the family. Go back and visit all these places I could only see through the scope.

Someday.....

Cheers,

Thank you so much, True!
I'm recording something at the moment along the line of your (and my)thoughts.......hope to have it ready soon. :)

Hey, Rob!
Thanx for listening in. I can tell you the mp3 clinic is better than any radio show! There are some awsome musicians that contribute here and we all learn from each other ...
...Hope this was interesting info for you.

Cheers :)
Joe

Hi Joe

Very interesting stuff, my friend. I liked the drums, (goes without saying the guitar playing was great)

I agree about getting the sound and compression right at the mix stage. In fact I've become a bit of an automaton when it comes to shoving Cubase's VST dynamics comp on almost every track. I've already worked out my template settings, so usually, they just need a tweak. This can lead to a certain amount of same-ness at times, but I thing anything that minimises the engineering time gives you more time to be creative in writing and playing.

It's so nice to get real, positive and informative feedback from real players/producers. This is what forums like this should be. I hate it when forums turn into sound boards for the ignorant, arrogant or downright ego-manic.

Keep up the good work bro.

Cheers. Rob:)

Wow, by far your best work yet!:D
Great songwriting, great riffs and great melody!!! Did I mention great voice?
And Mr. White Strat, the lead playing is most regal.

What part of Germany you at? I just landed back in Canada 2 months ago from having travelled and lived in Europe for a year, I lived the last 6 months close to Frankfurt in a little town called Giessen.

Very nice tune guys! Joe your voice reminds me of Gil Moore of the band Triumph [which is a good thing]. White Strat your guitar sounds great. The only thing that I wasn't too fond of is the snare. It just sounds kind of lifeless to me. Everything else sounds really good. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot guys! I appreciate the listen and the input. I know Joe does too. :)

Joe, when you told me that you had another project going on, I knew to expect something good. I wasn't disappointed!

I can't wait to see what you do with my song. I can't offer any mix advice. I am listening on a friend's $10 laptop speakers... :o

Nice tune, and great playing Bob!

Thanx for the comments, Rob!
I totally agree with you about the minimising.....I think most of us here in the clinic are musicians first and engineers later (I don't deserve that title....:o). The fact that there are no arrogant ego-maniacs on this forum is why I simply love it. I got critical comments on my earlier songs, but they were always constructive and helped me to get better. Still got a long way to go, but I'm in good company ;) And it's alway interesting to do collabs with such good musicians.

Cheers

Thanx Mike!
I know it's not a perfect recording but I really appreciate your comments. Yes, White Strat can really rip it up!
Actually you were about 45 minutes from where I live. Were you studying here or just passing thru? I know that Giessen has a university.

:D:D

Hey ocnor!
I like it when people compare me to good singers, (though I don't think I'm that good, probably because I'm hardly ever satisfied...). But I'm sure you know what that's like. It's hard to judge when you're recording yourself. But I guess I do OK.....:) Yeah the snare is always a central figure in a song, I wish I could find the magic sample or setting to get it sounding right. I'm still searching.....

Appreciate your listening in.

:D:D

Nice tune, and great playing Bob!

Hey there, buddy, how's life on the ocean?
I'll be starting your tune after I finish my next one....
I guess if my song sounds good on those speakers, it'll sound good anywhere:D

Thanx for the compliments and I hope I'll never disappoint!
