I'm not normally a punk fan whatsoever, but this one's a rocker! and a little bit
of a roller :D Good stuff Greg. You're a very impressive drummer by the way.
What else did you track on this song?

Also, the guitar intro reminds me of a W.A.S.P. song. What did you do to get
that guitar sound? I can hear delay/reverb but what parameters etc.

Bravo, bravo

Thanks dude. I tracked everything. It's all me.

The intro guitar is just a strat with a ping-pong digital delay on it set to the tempo of the song.

Another cool tune dude, really like the geetar on this one.
Thanks munch. :)

Great job. Like how the change ups add dimension to a punk song. You ever do any slower type punk like Sub Mission???

You know what Greg, I want to hear you do something slow as well. You've heard me at my attempts at harder stuff, I want to hear you do something mellow. It doesn't even have to be an original. Maybe a cover of TMBGs Kiss Me Son Of God. I did a cover. It's a very good song about a power hungry and self centered leader. And now that I am on the subject of covers, how about some zeppelin? Like Kashmir, or Over The Hills And Far Away? Anyway, I'm rambling here. Later.

Thanks a lot Chili. I'm not a fan of slow, but it depends on what you consider slow. Slow to me might still be pretty fast to someone else. I had some slower stuff up on my SC page, but took it down for a remix to go on the CD. Submission is a pretty good example. I've got a few riff ideas in that general style. I might try to develop one of them.

Haven't you heard my Sloop John B? That was a slow cover. I did Zep's "Living Loving Maid" some time last year too. ;)

I'm listening on headphones and, If something, I find the cymbals a little too harsh for me. Maybe Its the headphones so don't listen to me. Everything else sounds perfect. Awesome job, brother. :)

I keep saying it, but it has a "The Offspring", vibe !!! Well sort of :) This is more polished than some of your other "straight foward" rockers. You used alot more effects :) Which I think is a good thing. So why do you feel weird about writing lyrics ? Lets dive deeper into your thaught process. How does your wife view some of your lyrics ????? Does she question you as to why you wrote that certain line. "Is it aimed at me" she asks ??? :) Sorry are session is over for today. :) Good Tune. Only beef I have is the quick double kicks. I dont like those speed hits, too distracting. But thats just me.

lol@greg drumming better than superior drummer 2

slick and professional...great stuff, the backing vocals are top...mine end up sounding like 6 guys singing in the pub lol

Lol. Thanks. My wife is a lyric freak. She'll like a song just because of one line. Me, I couldn't care less about lyrics and would be just fine if every song was an instrumental. So naturally she thinks my lyrics are pretty dumb, and I'm fine with that because I think they're dumb too. She doesn't look too deeply into them and there's no real message behind them.

Thanks kcearl. I like drunken mob backing vocals so don't sweat it. :D

Yes, I have. That is why I want to hear you do some more. It was really great. And the reason I mentioned those two Zepp songs, is because they are my favorite.

I don't know man. I've been in warp-speed mode lately. I just roll with whatever comes out of my noggin. :o

I'm gonna try my hand again at an epic punk-prog disasterpiece. :D

good song! sounded good except maybe a bit mid rangey in some spots. nice job.

You're a freak of nature. Every time I get to thinking my mixes sound half-way decent, I listen to something like this.

Thanks for letting me know I've got a *long* way to go....

Seriously - the blend of the entire soundstage is amazing. Every instrument has its place, and gets every bit of bandwidth it deserves without encroaching on another's space. The fact that you did this all yourself from ground up is really, really inspiring.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot dude. It aint that bad. I felt the exact same way when I got here. My mixes were unlistenable. I found this place and saw that there were regular people making great recordings with modest home gear so I knew it was possible. I read a lot, asked questions, listened to people's songs, learned from the comments, and got to work. I think reading people's comments on other people's music can provide a lot of insight for your own stuff. Look for what others hear that you might not be able to hear. Once you're able to hear what they hear, that's just one more tool you have towards making a better mix. Use it all. If you like someone's kick drum or guitar, ask about it. You might not have the same equipment, but maybe you can learn from their technique to make your stuff better.

Greg,
your ears are extraordinary.
I always pay close attention to any detail you note & recco you make because you hear stuff I can't or don't hear.
Added to writing, performing & recording ace tunes well...
I'd have to say that you & RAMI are almost machines - but you've too fecund to be automatons. Freaks of nature then!

I could have sworn I commented on this a few days ago. But, I just realized we're on page 3 and I didn't get any notifications. I must have heard it and said I'd comment later, and then forgot. :(

So, anyway.....This kiks. How the fuck you do that bass drum shit??? Jesus. It's tight as hell. Double pedal???? I can hear why someone asked if it was a drum machine. Those bass drums are almost too perfect. :D

Everything rocks in this. Maybe the cymbals are a little too sizzly??? Though that can be my ears since I'm working on a song right now and have been listening to it over and over again, so anything else may sound weird to me for now.

Great job as usual, Greg. Top-notch production and performance.
