On a piano, what's a soundboard?

I agree you should hire a pro if its a significant investment. 30 bucks...ive spent that on lunch before. And yes, its easy to sell such a thing on ebay....People buy baby grands to use as decorations in resurants and stores and such...And they usually pay a hell of a lot more.

If someone offered to see me a car that ran for 30 bucks, and I wanted it...No I wouldnt wast the persons time by having them have to sit through an inspection from a mechanic.

People value their time. The person selling this thing just wants it out of their house...Insult was the wrong word, annoyance is what it would be to have to put up with some tech coming into my house for a piano I am practically giving away. I would just tell them take it or leave it.

I heard that!
Hell for 30 bucks? I'd buy it. Sight-unseen.
At the very best you have a piano that's marginally playable - At the very worst you have a nice piece of furniture.
The harp alone would bring 30 bucks in scrap metal.

I think I'd hire a piano mover to move it for me though.

ok, i'm convinced you shouldn't bother to check it out in advance...

providing you have a fireplace and a good strong axe.

Or, perhaps...

Provided you have a panel truck, a couple of helpers, a six-pack of Dos Equus a good strong back.

I know what you mean LD. Normally I'd be standing right there with ya!
But for 30 stinking dollars? Heck, the ECM8000's cost more than that.
I'd roll the dice on that one in a heart beat.

probably just my age showing. at 50+ i'm not about to be picking up any pianos, B-3's, refrigerators, or king size hide-a-beds unless I'm already pretty sure i really want it. Regardless of price. Plus my house is already so full of crap, i'd want to know if it was worth the hassle of clearing a space for it.

i guess i would have felt differently when i was twenty.

Here here.....I have a band full of 18 year olds, so they move all the heavy stuff. And I do havea friend with a tommylift on his truck, thats how I moved my Hammond.

This has given me an idea. I think I will try and find a deal like this, totally gut the thing and mount my Realpiano pro in it. It would look more impressive at gigs to play out with a baby grand. Once you get rid of the harp and the sound board, the rest of it probably isnt that heavy.

Where the hell is Lt. Bob anyway, we need his coments here.
