i have a 6 pc mapex m series with 6 cymbs so i want to have enough mics, and my band is old school thrash/ iced earth type stuff so i need the full amount of mics.

I'd go with the CADs/ But you know that if you're hitting stuff really hard, that a couple over head mics can do wonders. The CAD s are fairly nice for the money, even the GXL 1000 condensors do a fairly decent job, I liked them better than my MXL 603s and they're like half the price. Try some overhead micing and some area mics before you mic every single tom.

i will try all different settings until i figure out what sounds best . i'll start with 4 mics and keep going up.
