I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the rack forum, but since it seems newbie-ish, I put it here. If someone thinks it should be moved, I don't mind.

Anyways, I have an Omni I/O (Delta 66 w/Omni breakout box) connected to two monitors (L/R) through the monitor outs, a microphone through one XLR input in the front, and a keyboard (Roland RS-50) connected through line inputs 3 and 4 in the back. I also have an Alesis NanoCompressor inserted into insert 1.

I bought a BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer yesterday, and I've been trying to figure out how to set it up ever since. I have two dual 1/4" cables, one connected to each of its inputs and one connected to each of its outputs. Now, I realize that its inputs should go to outputs of the Omni I/O, and its outputs should go into the Omni I/O's inputs. But I don't know which to use. Guitar Center's guys suggested I put the outputs of the 362 into the line inputs where the keyboard is and the inputs into either the record or monitor outs, but that created an ear-piercing feedback loop (which I should've realized it would in advance).

Now, it can't go into an FX send because they're mono, and I've been told the 362 shouldn't be used like an effects box anyways. I just need the final product to go through it and back into the box for recording. If I had an additional mixer, my understanding would be that I would place the 362 between the mixer and the Omni I/O. If I were using it for live sound only, I would place the 362 between the monitors and the Omni I/O. But since I have to go both in and out of the Omni I/O to get the whole signal, I can't seem to set it up without causing a feedback loop.

Any help would be appreciated. :) Thanks in advance.

Well, I've done a bit more experimenting, and I'm still not sure if there's anything I can do outside of putting everything on a different mixer.

If I hook it up like a compressor, with an insert cable on one set of inputs/outputs on the BBE going into an insert on the Omni I/O, the BBE works for input 1 (in my case, the microphone) only.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to send the total signal to the BBE for recording, however. The logical idea would be to connect a set of outputs on the Omni to a set of inputs on the BBE, and then have the outputs of the BBE go into inputs of the Omni, but that creates a feedback loop.

This is giving me a headache (both literally and figuratively), to the point that I'm wondering if it would be best to return the BBE and get the software plugin version instead. Am I missing something obvious here?
