Old user appreciation post.

I used to post very frequently here under a different username. I recently came back after a year and a half absence. I am curious as to where ANY of the people who used to post are? All thats here now appears to be:

people who think solid state amps RULE!
people who think sampling drums is better than playing them.

Among many others who have absolutely no real use, and just post useless information with no basis in fact.

Where did all the actual engineers go that used to answer question? Where did the knowledgable posters go?

Do you they just ignore the threads of ignorance?

I'm very dissapointed in where this board has gone. I try to post and just find myself arguing elementary concepts, and wishing people used the "search" button even occasionally.

I just don't think I can continue on this board.

What a fruit, you come in and just decide to tell everyone how lame you think they are? If you have nothing to contribute then get lost.

Solidstate preamps do rule.
 
Thats my whole point. I'd like to contribute, but everytime I try, I find myself correcting some 15 year old kid who thinks his Marshall MG80 is better than a Plexi.

The quality of the threads is so much lower now then it ever was then, and it wish it was different.

I learned so much from this board, and I feel that if had joined now rather than 3 years ago, I wouldn't have learned anything at all. Reading these threads now is the worst instance of the blind leading the blind I've ever seen.

Why didn't you come back with that "different user name?"
Perhaps you could tell us what the "different user name" was so that we can do a search of the forums and find all of your many useful posts?

I think we won't be missing you.

I've been here on a daily basis since april '02 and if what you tell us is all you've been able to absorb since your return, I think it's more like you are the problem and not so much the board.
 
I've been on the board for a good while now and it seems as nothing has changed. You got your beginners asking questions and the more experienced answering them. That's the point of thte board and thats how it has always been.
 
He probably got chased away the first time around for being closed minded asshole troll.
 
I've been here for quite some time and have had the honor of meeting some of the regulars here.

I have seen nothing that suggests a decline in post quality. Perhaps the few experts here post less frequently, but they do make the rounds and give advice.

Furthermore, I haven't seen one serious post that stated solid state rules over tube, or drum machines are better than the real thing.

Kinda hypocritical of you to bring this to our attention in the recording forum, dontcha think? Complaints usually land in the Visitor forum.

Of his short post count I see most posts are critisizm...(including this post)....probably why he changed his username.

;) he likens this fourm to a newsgroup no doubt, o'l trols never die, they just get sad, lonely and whine a little louder...

i haven't been here to long but fought the trol wars many years in the newsgroups, they come and go, but surely never learn...

it's a seasonal thing i believe... heh... pre/monthly or fiber at best :D

Well, then! Nothing like someone coming in to say "I'm an ass and I'm leaving!! So there!" Uh....bye, then.

He obviously didn't try too hard to see what the state of the board is these days. Sure, I can remember when experienced audio professionals were posting more than they are now, but I still find all the info I need here.

I wonder if the-ass-formerly-known-as-"old timer" used the search function? Works everytime for me.

Have fun being dissaitsfied with all things in life, jacobs, if they way you behave here is anything like you are in real life.
