My ol' man is planning laying out enough money for a slingerland radioking snare drum, which for those of you who know is no small amount

so the question is if you had enough to buy the likes of a RK would a modern snare be a better buy???

I played a craviotto once that was jaw dropping & that would work out new around about the price of a RK

I've always wanted a radioking snare as I've been led to believe by a number of people they are the dogs bollocks, I also have a liking for gretsch drums

what do you guys think

I'd go with a good Ludwig supraphonic ($100-$200 for the most recorded snare of all time) and spend the rest on another good snare or ride, etc...

I have a ludwig acorlyte snare which I love to bits, if I was gonna get another ludwig it would be a black beauty or a 400 series (think that's what it is anyway)

I also have a Louie Bellson sig Remo, premier genista, 1966 sonor, cheaper end steel sonor, a slingerlang steel shell from the 70s & a host of others that need TLC. 2x premier 2000, Olympic picollo

also have a remo 10x5 Trilok Gurtu sig & an un-named 12x3 snare BUT I've fancied getting something that is gonna cost a chunk more than what I've listed & whether to go modern or old school is the question, as I said slingerland RK has been like the grail to me for a long time but it's a lot to spend
