I've been playing guitar / bass for over 40 yrs but I have no home recording experience. I don't need real fancy or complicated, but I would like to be able to print & email sheet music as well as start recording my backlog of originals. Any help, hints, suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

Check out the "Introduction to Multitrack Computer Interface Recording" at the top of the Newbie forum. It should have the info you want for recording. As far as software to make sheet music, I recommend Sibelius. But I would google "Notation software" to find one that you would like.

I own Sibelius and it has a major shortcoming. Consider "Finale", too when looking at your Google results. Also look for those keywords in this site when doing a search. I've written comprehensively on the pros and cons of these 2 major software programs.

The rest rooms are over on the left.

More info would be useful. The recording gear required to record aciustic guitar singer songwriter angsty shit is fundamentally different from that required to cope with Moldavian folk tunes played on a kazoo with occasional farting for bass notes.

I am pretty sure you need two apps - There are apps that transcribe recorded music into sheet music - although i have never tried one so I dunno how well they work or if they can even transcribe guitar chords. Then you want a DAW for recording - you will also need an interface to convert the audio signal to digital, many interfaces come with free DAW software.

TuxGuitar, a free TAB reader program (reads Guitar Pro and Power TAB files, too), can be used to output sheet music and lyrics. It's not pretty, but it does the job....
