Yeah, I've been corresponding with him some lately and was wondering the same thing!bongolation said:I had a long correspondence with Scott about Oktavas a year or two ago (when does the guy have time to do his real work, I wonder!)...[/URL]
After reading your post, I took a look under the hood of my MK-012. First off, it's much cleaner than the MXL 603, no flux or any of those nastys. The circuit itself is much simpler than the 603, but that may be a good thing.
I see the 680M resistors - looks like they'd at least use the 1G ones like everyone else. I've got a couple of the expensive 1G's lieing around, so I'll probably try them here. I could never catch those at Digikey, so I ended up buying them from some place in California for about $6.50 a piece. I can't imagine how much the 3G Victoreen resistors would be!
Do you know the value of the cap between the resistors? Mine has "Vn79" written on one side and nothing on the other.
The other caps are electrolytics, although they appear to be cheap ones. Probably won't make a difference until they croak.
Thanks for the info.
