Just got a couple off of eBay. On one of them the mic cable fits too snug--it's difficult to get it plugged all the way in and difficult to unplug. Love how they sound--just wondered if anybody else had that experience with the mics.

Yes, this is common with these mics. I forgive them this flaw since they sound so good. Congrats on your acquisition, you'll love them.

They sure sound good on mandolin. One pointed at the lower f hole and one pointed at the neck, about 8-10" away. Nice.

I have encountered this problem before- Try different cables. XLR's have nominal dimensions, but they are not all the same. I have only seen the problem you have with real Russian Oktavas, not the Chinese. In one case, certain cables wouldn't even make contact. I've had my best luck with old B.L.U.E. cables, maybe it's an Eastern European thing. Try a Blueberry cable and let me know if it works.-Richie

In a sense of having too much time on my hands I tried a Neutrik NC3FX plug and Switchcraft A3F in one of my MK012 mics. A tight fit on both accounts but the NC3FX seemed a bit easier to slide in and out.

Blue uses either the A3F in its cables or a knockoff of this plug so it might not be your fix.
