I recently updated from Sonar 5 Studio, to producer. I still have both on my pc. In studio, when I start something new, the track templates have many options. In producer, it's just one. Is this a goof up in mine, or normal?

Can you be a little more specific? Maybe it's just a another less featured template that's comming up(?) There's several in there, and do you have any of your own to load?

Search for your *.CWT files and see what folder they are in. Open OPTIONS-AUDIO-FOLDERS and make sure that Sonar v5 is pointing to the right spot.

Ciao,

Sounds like you just need to set all your template locations files again for Producer. Go to the Options menu and choose Global... an then the Folders tab... all your paths should be set there.

What did it cost for the upgrade... I went for Studio and then wondered if I should have gone for Producer instead. Was it worth it?

Yep => oops, Synkrotron is correct - OPTIONS-GLOBAL-FOLDERS.

Ciao,

Thanks guys. I had done this, but put templates in the folder, and it was actually supposed to be sample content there. I looked at it in Studio, and found where I was making a mistake. :o

The upgrade was $99, so it was worth it to me, just to have a few more toys. I had seen a post before about teh Perfect Space verb, and V-vocal, and didn't know if I'd use them, but for the $99, it was cool. Did you sign up for the email list? That is where I got the offer. They have offered it a few times, so I took them up on it.

I originally got Sonar just for the use of SoftSynths, but now use it for mixing exclusively.

glad you got it sorted ;)

I'm kicking myself now really... should have gotten Producer in the first place but didn't think I'd need it. I've not seen the offer... musn't 've signed up to their newsletter. Might check their website later.

having my own trauma at the moment

Was in Sonar this morning... no problems... I decided that I needed a rest from mixing and so I shut down...

went and did some ironing (yeah... I do my own ;)

later, went back to my PC... tried to boot it up... said couldn't find some file or another... bastard

after many hours of trying to fix the problem without reinstalling XP I gave up and made for my XPpro installation disc... then I found I'd lost my little sticker with my CD key on it... gutted

hit google on one of my other PC's and did a search on "lost XP CD key" and I found a program that could retrieve at least my CD key from the buggered hard drive

so here I am, waiting for XP to finish formatting my 250gig partition (amongst other things... still not reinstalled Sonar yet)

it's amazing how long it takes to get a workstation back to "normal" when something like this happens. I'm glad I only use this particular PC for one thing... music... so I'm just going through the routine of installing all my drivers for soundcard, USB MIDI devices and stuff then I'm going to hit the only software I put on here which is Sonar 5 SE, Sound Forge 8 and CD Architect.

anyways... better see what it's up to...

Bummer bout the problems man...hope you get it sorted out. I just found the email I got, and the offer expired 3/16. It's now a $199 upgrade, so I'm glad I did it when I saw that.

Good luck getting stuff sorted, and thanks again.
