Ok something happened yesterday before I went to work, while using audition, and it's completely f'd up my entire computer. I was just zooming in on a highlighted region, trying to sync up a new track with an existing session, and all of a sudden this super LOUD buzzing sound started comming out of my computer's speakers. I just closed out, didn't save session, shut down my comp and turned it off for a few seconds. I started it again, and as soon as the screen came on, I got the same SUPER LOUD buzzing sound. it's constant, form the time I turn my computer on, til I shut down, and again, I can not tell you enough how extremely loud it is. WTF is wrong!? I mean, I can mute my computer and it goes off, and it respondes to the volume controls, but it's always there, I can't use any audition, or any music players with out hearing this super loud buzz, it's driving me crazy! does anybody know whats going on with this? I wasn't online, I didn't have any other programs open, I still have plenty of room of memory, so I clueless as to whats going on. Please help!

i dont know your setup or how much you know about recording onto a PC so im only suggesting this because i know someone who had a similar problem once. By chance, were you sending an amplified signal to your soundcard instead of a line level?

I'm pretty sure it's a sound card problem, must be a malfunction as it's not playing any computer sounds, or music files, I get an error message, I'm not sure about the amplified verses line thing though, could ya give me a little more information about that. Also, is there a way to reinstall my sound card, drivers that might fix the problem?

I've had a similar problem with my laptop. Only solution I found was replacing the soundcard(or whatever is in a laptop). I bypassed it by using a Digitech RPx400 as my sound card.

driver

It's most likely dead of your sound card but if I were you I'd try to upgrade/reinstall the driver of sound card first.
Give a shot! Good luck!

what piece of equipment were you comming out of and going into your sound card? a friend of mine actually used a 500 watt power amp between his mixer and sound car because his mixer didnt have phantom power and he needed to power his mic...it worked for maybe an hour and then his sound card was fried.

LOL

Is that what that white smoke is? Phantom power?

lp - I can get mine to do that if I let Windows media player and Cool Edit try to access my sound card at the same time. Something else sounds foul though especially if you've rebooted...
