OK... My first REAL complaint about the Masterlink! (Paging Mike Nicoletti!!)

Hi, Tonewoods,

This is from our Engineering Department:

"I just took a reference CD with 16K at -15dB and copied it to the HD. I tried this without any problem (v2.02). This issue seems very strange, like maybe an "emphasis" problem? I'd like to know if the user is having the problem only at 16K, or does it get worse at 20K. Does the 3dB down come from the outputs or, is it visible on the meters? Is he using an Audio Precision to measure this?"

thanks, looking forward to your reply,

Mike

Hey Mike...here's the original post:

Hey Mike...
I picked this up at another site...do you know anything about it? It got my attention...

"I'm stumped. Any idea why Masterlink's "track move" function would yield a copied file that is -3dB at 16k? I've transferred (from a test CD, after verifying that the sweep contains no level deviation) a freq sweep to three different Masterlink machines with identical results: 3dB down at 16k on playback from the HD."

Mike, the potential problem is after using the "track move" feature....was that part of their test?

Thanks!

Yes, they did copy a CD....but how is -3dB at 16K being determined?? Meters, AP test? In other words, is it dead on -3dB at dead on 16K and if so how was that determined?

thanks!

Mike
