Never Act Like U Know All
I'm downsizing because I'm moving, and really having a hard time as far as what to keep& what to get rid of. But, I want to keep it to just a few things that make most sense. Anything else, HAS to go. I want to only keep what will be good pieces (sound quality wise that wont be dated) for years to come.

I currently have a:

#1 DAW for cubase
#2 DAW for Gigastudio32 (it's dedicated for Giga, and Giga is used only for drums = 16midi channels mapped with 61 individual drum samples so 976 samples)

Roland JW-50 (as a master controller)

Roland JV-1080 w/hip-hop,dance,house & techno exp boards (3,000+ patches from internet) (rompler)

Roland JD-990 w/vintage synth exp board (600+ patches fron internet) (digital synth)

Roland Fantom XR (rompler) (just purchaed brand new 2 days ago for $1,000 from Guitar Center)

Roland XP-30 (used in live performances) (basically a JV-1080 with keys)

Roland JP-8080 (virtual analog synth) (just purchased 2 weeks ago)

Roland MC-303 (cheasy POS table top synth)

Triton Rack w/192MB RAM

Alesis DM-PRO Drum module
Alesis QSR
Alesis Midiverb

Yamaha FB-01

Just traded in a JV-90 & S-80 on the Fantom.

Well, I'm thinking about getting rid of the DM-PRO, QSR, Midiverb, Yamaha FB-01, Roland MC-303

I feel you need only a couple of really good ROMplers (jv-1080, triton and fantom xr), a good digital synth (jd-990) and a cpl of good virtual synths (JP-8080 & ?).

So I was thinking trading in the other stuff I already mentioned I want to get rid of, and pay the difference and get the new Access Virus TI.

I thought about getting a wavestation a/d for another digital synth, & a yamaha motif es rack, but thats my problem. I buy, buy, buy, like money is no object. Then my wife hit it on the head. Just have a few REALLY REALLY good pieces, and I wont need to keep buying.

So, I decided not to get the motif rompler, cause of already having a 1080, fantom and triton....and not to get the wavestation a/d cause of already having the jd-990.

I thought of buying a korg ms2000r rack cause I can get one right now for 250 dollars which is a good deal. But im not sure about getting it cause the polyphony is really limited, and that goes back to my new way of thinking of: "only buy it if it's really needed."

I had a studio for a few years, worked in a studio since I was 18. And I've learned, it's not about what you have, it's about what you do with what you have.

Take for example, I worked for a guy who had a yamaha v-50 workstation (dx-7 with a sequencer), a fostex 4-track, 2 track reel-to-reel, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, amp, peavy speakers and stage amp/mixer combo, and a shure mic. and charged 25 dollars/hr back in the early 90's ! OMG !

So I'll be left with, jv-1080, jd-990, triton, fantom, jp-8080, and access virus ti.

I think this setup will be good for years to come

PS, I'll be running reason 3.0 on my laptop soon also.

Can someone tell me if I can sync-lock cubase ex on one computer to reason 3.0 on my laptop so when i start a song in cubase, reasons sequencer will start also?

So what do you think about this setup? And get rid of the other junk?

Thanks in advance.

If u want to rid that Yamaha FB-01 let me know. Im interested in it. How much if u do sale it?

I'd like to get $50.00 for it. I was hoping whoever wanted to buy it bought the Alesis Midierb also ($50.00)

The FB-01 needs EFX desperately.

But if you just want the FB-01, then $50.00

Let me know if your interested.

Mike
