Well I've gotta say for the first time I went back and actually listened to someone's material. If these are your songs and you're young, not fat, and not ugly, then you're a package and you have a great future.

As to the tracks, they're great, just don't pan things quite as much.

Good luck

. If these are your songs and you're young, not fat, and not ugly, then you're a package
ohhh no

Erland let the music speak forget the rest plain and simple

You got something special Erland so use it to assist yourself talent wise and try not to look into mirrors its great to be loved when you yourself dont see your own talents a true legend is one who is.......... without having to try an be one some people know the difference the best music ive heard has always been in the smallest of places

Sorry fot not replying

Firstly, Wow!

I actually didn`t think this post would get too much looks but I finaly check it out and wham!!!

I really should not be online right now, I have to complete my work!. 15 weeks and it will all be over. I`ll have a degree. Wierd!

Very brief reply but firstly I must say that this forum for the past 2 months has been absolutely outstanding. The people, the help, the listens! This is what music should be about, real.

When I first got that recorder I started using all the effects etc. and spending a long time doing something then my Girlfriend (who is the only one apart from you chaps that ever get to listen) turns round as says, erm its good, but........

"I like it better when Its just you and the guitar!" I love accoustic tracks, why? cos they let the listener realise its simple and fun and easy and they go off and learn the song themselve. Thats how I learned to play so thats how I`ll learn to record. Perhaps this sounds too cheesy but I`m tired and ready for bed.

jimistone. Thanks for the advice and I`m glad you said that.

Shockwave. Good show. Testing them out, that makes sence. Cheers

PowerCouple. Thankyou, thats really appreciated. The songs makes song good, right? thats an important part!

chessrock. Thanks, I`ll feed it soon.

Speeddemon. My brain will be ready to take it all in very soon. Thanks for you time though!

ian27. Thanks for listening again too. I wont change it. What i will do is learn from mistakes that way songs sound better and better and i learn the best way of recording. Thanks again.

trebles. You have said some very encouraging things. You understand! yehaa.

SOUND DIAGNOSIS. Erm, what can I say. You made me blush big time. you`ll probably change your mind though! that was a very nice thing to say. thank you.

philboyd studge. My face is beetroot colour! thanks ever so much for your advice. I am so glad you liked it. I liked that little tale.

muzeman. This man is great! thank you for your listens and your advice.

Village Idiot. Ha, thanks buddy.

philboyd studge. thanks for listening again, that means a lot. I`m 22, just ran a marathon and I love my girlfriends. It would be great if music was recognised for what it is and not what surrounds it. That would be the politicaly correct statment but well, we all know the what usually happens.

Man listen to me, I sound like a prat!

trebles. But your right and thankyou.

I am not going to read though this, I am sure its nonsence. Bye and thanks.

Erland

:o

Earland - where do you go to school? We should start a band ;)

I really love boy to a girl "would you be my twin"? - genius...I don't exactly get it...but, i still think it is genius. heh.

I think the way you brought the other guitars in was nice.

the mics people reccomended were good...You could check out the Marshall 603 at 50 bucks each....you could great stereo guitar miking that way.

But, another option is find someone around where you live who is a homerecer who you might be able to work with. if you were in the Atlanta area I'd be glad to let you borrow some mics/use my gear....etc. (for nothing in return...of course) becuase you have a talent...and most people on here have that Indy spirit in the same way. So, that's an idea. Great work man.

No way Man! I'm recording him first - okay!

I also envisage a small string section for your third album - okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves here!

No - but seriously, I'm sure wherever you are, there will be somebody who is going to help you out.

Good luck mate - although I have a sneaking suspicion that you probably won't need any!

Ian

still brief, sorry

wes480. Thanks for listening man. I study in Scotland and my head is about to explode with stress! Anyway, cheers for the compliment oh hey. Just for you, boy to a girl was about growing up as kids and having a really best mate who is so similar your kinda like twins. Cos the best friends you had as kids were always the best. Ofcourse, boy to a boy sounded kinda of poofy so I suppose its about having a soul mate now. Nothing complicated, no deep and meaningfull really. There, I said it. the meaning behind the song. Ruined for you all. Woops

ian27. Hey Ian. thanks!

argh, must go. Bye

I can't believe this post turned into a debate between some guys chatting back and forth about what they were trying to say regarding mic recomendations...and what they weren't trying to say. These songs ARE unbelievable. Funny you're living over their on that island of the coast of Europe (hehehe) because my first thought was "wow, a really really good version of David Grey." David Grey has got nothin' on you kid...nothing AT ALL!

I heard room for a lot of development around the basic songs, but the basic songs are so perfect, and recorded so well, that if money is tight, you'd be wasting your limitted money buying gear to try and improve them. I swear that would be like a really beautiful, drop-dead gorgeous woman going to Macy's and spending $1500 on make-up and clothes...would that make her more beautiful? Hell no.

If I were you, and if you want to record a record (if that's your point), I'd get a 3 song demo to ATO Records (Dave Matthews label) I'd be surprised if you're not releasing a major album within a year. Check the web for contact info...

The fact that you're 22 tells the label that, if you're this good, this young, you are an investment with essentially NO RISK. It's highly doubtful they'd pass on you. You really are that good. You ARE $$$$!! No point in spending sparse, hard-earned money upgrading gear, the label will take 90 cents on every dollar you earn, let THEM finance the gear. If you produce yourself too much, you infringe on prospective producers ears. Let it ride as it is. To capture the ears of the masses, it WILL need to be produced up....but not right now.

Awesome stuff....

This Is Awesome stuff!! Its sad how today mainstream music is focused almost completely on image and not on talent. There are so many people out there with so so so much talent that don't get the credit they deserve. What ever you do DON'T EVER give up. You've got alot of potential.

Will

Ok, first off. This stuff inspired me. This is some of the best music i've heard in a long time. Acoustic songs are great, they are so simplistic but put across so much. Second this music reminds me somewhat of Kevin Cadogan (ex-third eye blind guitarist, current singer/songwriter/guitarist for Cousin Kevin) when he did acoustic stuff, his Irish i wonder if theres any relation here.

Will

chuffed!

BigPapaFly. So glad you liked it mate. In 1 month all my work will be semi over and I will have the summer term to do well, anything. Cant talk now but thanks for your comments. The UK is an Island, but hey makes the rest of the world more exciting when I get off it. David Gray, Wow, cheers for that. I got a demo of fruity loops for my computer. When I have time I want to get into doing cool drums etc. Looking farward to that. Any way, you made my morning bro. See you in a monthish.

Axis. Hey man, its good that you listened and you went to do an accoustic number. Thats the best! Any way bring on the music revolution......

much later

Erland

Wow.

If you haven't listened to this guy's stuff yet, do it. Way better than the average radio swill.

Good, honest heartfelt music. We need more Earlands and fewer Enriques. :D Keep at it man, you're onto something.

I like acoustic stuff too...I could hear a subtle B-3 pad in A Boy To A Girl...hehe :)

At the end of the day, this is what it's all about.

tOdd :)

bro!

Thanks for the compliment man. It aint that good guys.

Whats a B-3 pad anyhoo, you taking the micky.

Erland

Sonically I think your recording sounds great already, I'd be afraid to mess with the signal chain too much.

Tell us what gear you used to track this. Did you record this at home?

Keep up the good work!

-Niels

Hi Erland,

I hope you don't mind, but a friend of mine came into the studio last night and I let him hear your track. He really liked it so we decided to add some bass guitar and drums to it - I understand that this isn't probably what you envisaged.

Anyway, e-mail me at <i.moran@ntlworld.com>, and leave me your e-mail address. I can then send you what we have done so you can make up your own mind.

Ian

man, cheers so much for the listens guys

just to say thanks

Axis. Well thankyou very much.

Reqs. Sonically, signal chain? I`m a newbie. But I recorded it with my four track, boss br 532, shure 606 mic direct to crappy guitar. Did a couple of guitar takes, the vocal and a harmony. Simple. Thanks for the listen! later

ian27. Well thats great. I`m looking farward to it. I`m glad you guys got invloved. Later. Yehaa!

kind regards

Erland

Wow!

Great sound, sounds like you recorded it in a studio. Very impressed!

jw. Did you record these with your Washburn? Did you ever replace the guitar?

Very nice song and performance indeed. Though the "hook" title part of the verses could use some word changes. It's 90% there, just...not sure...not hooky enough verbally or the word rhyme scheme needs rearranging. Thanks for the opportunity to listen. Certainly 1000 times better than anything I've ever done.
