I just picked up a hohner pianet t for 90 bucks!I nearly killed myself driving to get it in oakland, but it was so worth it. I got a rhodes off ebay, but it hasn't come yet. I have a good idea what they sound like, seing I'm a carpenters fan. The hohner is very nice. They sound a little more jazzy and "electrical" in my opinion. I love the sound though. And it's only like 48 pounds, and is as small as a 50 dollar keyboard you can buy at costco.
But I guess that's kind of my problem. This thing is so simple,it is COMPLETELY passive. No internal power. No transistors, no preamps, you don't even have to plug it into anything besides what you're wiring it to. No ac cord or anything. So obviously, the gain on this thing is WEAK. I've wired it through my mixer, turned the pre's to the max, and still no good result. What does this thing need do you think? A DI box or something? I don't even get what those things do.......
