Taking CMiller's advice in another Forum: Well, half of it anyway.

Here it is.

Are the vocals too loud?

From the 2 to 5 seconds I've been able to retrieve (after numerous attempts here at home on a 56k), I've decided the vocals are definitely NOT too loud. :D

I'll try again up at work. Hey, since you're doing requests, I've got one: I want to hear a piece you write that is deliberately more "Cadillac" than "Ferrarri." Know what I mean? And vocals about your cat, I dig those...

lol Kelly
This file must be huge! I only have 13 seconds and it has been forever! Maybe the internet is slow today :).

My thoughts so far...a very clean and sharp sound. Thats all I can give!

Cadillac? Ferrari? Huh? Splain it to me, please.
Maybe I'll put it up at Lycos if I can remember how.
It's only 2.5 MB. 192 Kbps.
One other question. Are you trying to stream it on a 56K modem?

Heya, Doc. No stream, just download. Both click and right-click/Save Target. Fifteen seconds of transfer and then *POOF!*.

Uhm, the analogy applied to the rapid-fire heavy-transient sound that is somewhat your signature. I characterize your music as mathematical and exploratory, at first. The pieces have their own character, like molecules. But you gotta know the molecule to understand it's properties, you know? And I hear lots of molecules; as if they're all on the Drstawl Periodic Table.

I wanna hear you do the Monet that's hung next to the Periodic Table. Not necessarily a boring 3-chorder, but rather something composed of sounds that don't have aggressive transients and that aren't as "busy."

The Ferrarri/Cadillac analogy was aimed at what these cars feel like at 80 mph. A Ferrarri is exciting, close to the ground, bouncing on each piece of gravel in the asphalt. You're very aware of the ride. A Cadillac glides over the pavement; it reflects the lulling grace of the hillside as it hovers like a seagull over the choppy seaside surf. You're also aware of the ride, but in a different way.

I love your Ferrarri. But that Cadillac is beggin' to be driven. Take us for a ride!

Thanks to all those who tried my site to get this tune. I really did test it (successfully each time) from two locations before publishing the link, but the best laid plans......

OK- I spent hours farting around with Lycos- No Go. Maybe they don't allow 192 Kbps files????

So I went with:

www.nowhereradio.com

At least Waldo was real! AND mighty quick. I'd suggest Internet Explorer if you plan on streaming it.
D/L works with either browser.

Look for: "When You Get" by the Amrather Development Orchestra.

Kelly: Thanks for the explanation. I do have some Cadillac stuff, but it's a lot more infrequently written than my Ferrari material. Aggressive transients. LOL! I think my voice was the most aggressive transient in that .mp3. Ouch!

What?!!!

Someone is actually taking my advice? Holy hell, that just might be a first!

I'll check out the tune Doc...I'm on my way there now!

'Was' real?

/me checks his pulse ;)

The prototype doesn't work well with NetScape (streaming or looks wise), but the original still does (or should, and did last I checked). I'll be doing compatibility related hub-ub soon as I get a break from general life!

Right now a bunch of artists (including myself) are creating a 'Band of Independant Artists' to give all of us a bigger voice. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'll forward your information to the people organizing the thing.

Hey Walldo, I meant to tell you...

I like the site a lot. I'd like to see the first screen load a little quicker, but then I'm on 56k and that's really MY problem. I dig the look of the site and will definately be uploading tunes there.

Mark

Okay, found it thanks to therealwaldo. Got the lo-fi version going. Reminded me of "nom yo ho reng ge qyo" American style.

Now give me my weenies back.

Oh my god, this is the MP3 mixing clinic…the air is so thin…no smoke…no cussing…no burping…no vomit…oh god, I feel weak and dizzy…I…don’t…know…if…I…can…make…it…back…

Do you really want them back now that they've been through a pair of Feline Weenie Processing Devices? They don't look the same at all......
And who said there's no smoke?
Waldo: thanks for reminding me of your artist page naming convention. I was just spoiled by that cool front page promotion for new uploads. MP3.com wants hundreds of dollars for that kind of spread.
Thanks, man!
BTW: The past tense fit in that sentence, but I'll add, "Waldo is Real, just for clarification."

love it!
This is all that needed to be said ... good job.

btw, I really like nowhereradio.com ...
never heard of it before ... finally, a cool place to upload some songs. The interface is great and the downloads are fast fast fast! :)

also, btw ... monty, I'll fart if it'll make you feel more comfortable ;)

YEAH! Like that!

Wow, now we know what happened to Neil Diamond...

:D

Kelly: Neil Diamond?
Man- Did you smoke that Gingko Biloba I sent you?
BTW: It was organically grown.

But I'm still feeling a little insecure about the mixed volume for those vocals.
Should they be lower relative to the synth tracks?

WHOA. That's GINKO?

COOOOOL! I thought it was catnip. (actually, thought it was something else when the envelope was opened..) Right on! :D

Thank you again, it's a great CD. (I caught one song that sounded like the beginning to "I Found Out," but it wasn't that song at all... know the one I'm talkin' about?... oh, and my apologies, haven't heard all of it yet, you prolly have some Cadillac on there and my ignorant ass is in your own thread requesting songs... wonder if this is how producers start out? ugh.)

Sorry, Doc... noticed I didn't answer what you asked...

Vocals sound fine. You've got that raspy Neil Diamond thing goin' on, love to hear your vocal stuff. The levels sounded fine up at work, wouldn't change a thing. Your "feeling insecure" about your vocals is a shame; you've got a great voice w/ lots of character!

btw, your feline vocal phrasing makes me think you're turning into a cat... that a moustache or whiskers? :D

Dangit, sorry again...

Didn't mean transients, I goofed. I meant the sharp attack inherent in some of the sounds you use...

PHHHHHHT. Goin' to bed. Been up since Tuesday morning... :(
