Hey Mixmkr -

Awsome as expected. I love the sound effects in the intro. YOu always know how to add them tastefully.
I didn't care much for the vocals. It's a musical choice, and I could see why you did it that way, but it's just not what I usually go for.
The direct guitar sounds... direct... Again, it's a choice.
Love the hugeness of it, like everyone said. The Organ kicking in in the outro is grand. Fits perfectly.
Great job!

Oren

Hi,
I agree with the above comments on the vox with one exception,
If you were to perform the vox more in the style of say Pink Floyd, that is, more speaking than singing...ya know...with a lot of verb on the vox...give it that spacy effect.....
I think it might come across better...
That's the only negative from me....
The music is outstanding!
Very good job performance wise and recording and editing wise...
I can dig it...
sure doesn't sound like any Christian music I have ever heard before...
Very cool,
Rock on dude,
Joe

boydrj... thanks for the listen and the encouragement. I appreciate your time and response.

saljustsal....I can understand the wind chime remarks...either you like em or dont....maybe (I just happen to have them all around my house..inside and out too!). I did double the vocals as you suggested btw, and there is basically zero reverb on them as well. I understand the need for 'presence'...but I sing about one out of every 20 songs I record...for a reason I think!! I thank you too, for your constructive comments.

beezelbubba... wow...what nice remarks. Sing an octave higher!!?? Ouch!! and keep my nuts!! (jus' kiddin'...I think) wish I could...maybe give it a try one lonely night!! aaaah...yes...the rat!! Almost better than the POD...(oh my gosh!!) yeah..really...to me, at least. thanks for your time.

Aren...love the 'overseas' listens....glad you like my organ!!(:D ) really...thanks too for your comments

joro...Hey..I'm getting some good comments on what to try for the vocals...I appreciate your ideas, and will have to try that (sounds easier than singing an octave higher;) ) Your ideas sound good. I appreciate your time.

well..that's two posts without a scuffie from you....must be no negs then.....eh?? ...eh?....eh???:D :D

I got it playing right now... It really is a good tune...the chorus being my favorite part.. I do have negatives, but I think they have been mentioned at certain points already...so why bother... I have a Digitech2112 that sounds very similar to this guitar sound.... I only use it on occasion... As I have said before, you have a cool way of getting your message across in your tunes BUT if you didn't post the lyrics to this one, and someone was unfamiliar with any of your other stuff, you would never know the positive subject matter....I think that is both good and bad....Good because the song is decent regardless of the subject matter, bad because the song is different once you know the lyrics.....it is better for some (me), and I'm only able to figure out the lyrics because I'm used to hearing vocals like this, but I think the average person would not be able to make out the lyrics if it was just played in rotation somewhere....and they would miss out on the best part of the tune... I don't know how to help you fix it obviously by listening to my stuff, but with your tunes it seems it should be more important for the lyrics to be legible...whereas my lyrics should maybe not be sooo legible...

You have read my posts, I know next to nothing about anything... I think the things I dont like would be preference, so I'll just say, good tune dude!!:D

damn Sabb...and to have you say that the lyrics are the best part of the tune is probably the highest compliment I've gotten from this song....anytime... That puts a BIG smile on my face...thanks.

and you say you "know next to nothing"...Well...I might just agree with you there!!! ha!...but for being a dumb sh*t....your stuff sounds pretty good...even on that 'lil ole multi tracker you use!!! (and those kit kat drums!)

Cool Tune!

I really dug that man.Did you play everything yourself? If so,how do you plan ahead for such a structured out tune? How do you keep your eye on what the final result is gonna be with so many track ideas in your head in the early stages? It's hard for me to lay drums, bass, vocals and guitars down by myself without getting lost.

CD quality mix too.Good job!

Really rockin tune!

Synth work sounds great.
Really kickin lead guitar too.

The only thing I didn't like were the bongos at the end, didn't seem to fit the feel of the song.

The vox was meant to be buried a little, aye?:D
Fits well with the overall sound.

Cool stuff

Best to you,
Pete

Awesome sound!

I was really carried by the constancy of the sound - I'm in a bit of a choppy phase, and this was the polar opposite - wow, it's powerful. Could you tell us a bit about how you set up the percussion tracks? It's a big mystery to me...

Kramer...thanks for the listen...and yeah...like most everyone here, I played all the rubbish myself;) As far as the planning, you just sit down (most of the time, I suppose) and just start playing and recording at the same time. I actually find my stuff to be rather simplistic to a lot of the stuff I like to listen to, and aspire to be half as good as....

muzeman....ah bongos......ah...Maynerd G. Crebbs....!! thanks, Pete.

Treeline....the percussion in this song is from a Roland keyboard workstation. I separate the drums on separate tracks in my computer multitrack program (cooledit), for final mixing by recording them single (stereo) passes at a time, then I sync them back up in the computer. I'll usually have separate tracks for bass drum, snare, high hat, cymbals(stereo), and toms(stereo) and misc percussion(stereo). I do this ONLY because the keyboard only has stereo outs. I sometimes play stuff live, and then cut and paste for later verses, etc., or they are just sequenced. The intro stuff (drums) in this song was recorded live to the DAW sequencer, then dumped to the computer....and actually the rest of the song was too, in this case. I put my sequencer in the "loop" mode, and then play my patterns to capture them. Of course, the drum tracks are usually laid first for a time keeper, then the other stuff...

I'm certain I can't add anything else useful in the realm of comment or critique. Suffice to say that I concidered the lyrics very well layed out. Lyrics are the reason I started playing git and trying to sing so, I tend to pay attention to them and these I (a non-christian if that matters)really liked. Very strong and fitting. All else was a simple pleasure and inspiration to listen to on a recording, writting, and arranging front.
It must have been fun and satisfiying to to have this audio vision come to fruition. And to have the inner tools to make it so.

Great tune. I bet it blows out windows when and if it is played live!

Peace,
Theron.

sabb...no..I haven't done this particular song live as of yet. My other stuff you have heard, has all been played live, but not in the full band context, unfortunately...or even on a regular basis. What I've usually done is make a backing CD and omit the vocals and the gtr parts that I was going to play, and use that as my 'band'...as it has almost always just been another singer and myself with the CD. ...ocassionally a keyboard player and/or another gtr. player. Also, I've converted some of my stuff to suit my church choir...so thus....performances as of late have all been limited to church audiences too. I cut my hair and haven't jumped off a Marshall stack in many years (however my Ampeg V4 stack awaits patiently in my studio room, in which I actually rather frequently cart outside and mic up my guitar tracks with it. :D

and...thanks Theron, for the listen and positive comments. When someone listens to the lyrics, it kinda supprises me, actually!!
