Functionally obsessed.
I got a new turntable this year, after a friend (ha ha) broke my old one. It's the Audio Technica AT-PL120. It's a pretty good turntable for the price!

Problem is, the needle blows. It makes all of my records sound terrible. Great turntable, but if you buy it new, be prepared to buy a new cartridge.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a cartridge priced at or around $100?

Thanks!

Second on the V15 IV had one for years and there are replacement styli available.

first make sure you have the weight and scew adjusted correctly... i used to sell consumer audio and the grados were my fav cartridge...

Agree on Needledoctor. They carry the most cartridges and needles.

Thank you, everyone, for your recommendations. I've bookmarked this thread and I'll come back to it when I've got the extra cash. I've been putting gear purchases on hold while I'm paying off some medical bills... ugh.

I'm listening to a 180 gram release of Chairs Missing by Wire... I'm thinking of how much better it will sound with a good cartridge...

(Note: I might "accidentally" make an impulsive online purchase soon... !!!)
