Is it bad that this is how I've found my guitar recordings sound best?

Guitar ---> Metal Zone Pedal ---> Small 10W Practice Amp...
The amp is in a large particle board/plexiglass cabinet that creates a space of about 3x3x3. This space is entirely enclosed. I've placed a mic(Audiotechnica snare mic) slightly off center the speaker cone about 1 inch away from the grill. I've also put a cheap condenser mix in there at about a foot away from the amp... aimed at the top edge of the speaker...

The two mics then go into my behringer mixer
And split into left/right into my Delta 44...

Seems like a bad setup but the sound is actually pretty good.

I guess it's important to state that I play punk music...
So I am Trying to keep a lo-fi sound...
But not so lo-fi you can't tell what's being played.

You'll hear it time and time again. Whatever sounds the best is the best.

IMO, becoming a great engineer is just learning about how to capture what sounds best (and ultimately mixing it well with other sounds), and becoming a successful engineer is basically learning how to capture what other people think sounds best.

your set up doesn't sound that odd...i say if you like the sound...rock on

there's not really any wrong way to record anything...just opinion...and well, if it's your music, then your opinion is the only one that really matters...
