Damned if I do
Been drooling over this turntable today and thinking seriously about ordering one. Anyone here have one? Do you use the digital outs and are they any good? Recommend a good cartridge to go with it? I plan to use it mainly for straight listening and digitizing some of my vinyl.

Nobody? Well, I ordered one anyway. I think it'll serve my purposes. And I can send it back if it ain't all that.

Vinyl is king!

They are NICE tables! :D

One of our HR.COM members (Flo' Dolo) had 3 of them.

When he moved here to Chicago, we would "trick" on them all of the time.

However..... I am partial to Technic 1200's. :p

Are you buying one or two?

I don't "trick" and do "routines" on the TT's too much anymore, so I can't suggest the best cartridges to use for that.

I would suggest that you pick up a pair of the Ortofons (that screw into the headshells). You normally can't go wrong with buying/using those.....

Well it's on the truck and out for delivery.

I just got one. I'm not planning to do anything too fancy with it.

Well, I got teased. The delivery that came Tuesday was just the phono pre and cartridge. The 'table won't be here until tomorrow. That's OK, though. I've been cleaning up the studio so now there's actually a space for it!

Mad........just curious; are you going to be using a slipmat? I'm thinking if you just want it to record from at various speeds then you may want to put a rubber mat on the platter. Just a thought.

PS. Did you get an S tone arm or a Straight?

I'm mostly gonna be digitizing from 33's and 45's, but I'll keep the slipmat in mind. Thanks, thane.

The TTX1 comes with both straight and s-shaped arms, and changing them out is supposed to be very easy.

Woo Hoo! It arrived Friday and I've been in vinyl heaven! This TT is frickin' HOT! It calculates BPM while it's playing, and can shift pitch while staying in the same key! Sick! And it's heavy, like 32 pounds. It's definitely designed more for DJ's, but I'll have plenty of uses besides pure listening. Attached is a picture of the table in its new home, playing the Klark Kent 10" EP.

BTW, I went with a Stanton 500-II-A cartridge to start with. The table came with a decent slipmat. This must've been a floor model, 'cause the straight tone tube is bent. I like the S better anyway. Oh, and the strobe is burned out. Still, not a bad deal.

Thanks!!!!

I've started going through my collection and prioritizing the things I want to digitize. It's gonna take awhile though. I've got like 2,000 LP's and a couple of hundred singles. Gonna wear this stylus OUT! Hmmm, maybe I should order a new one now...

Yeehaw! Can you tell I'm happy?

Just so you know that stylus is crap, burn it up and get a new one. I had those needles 7 years ago, they sell for like 15 bucks at RatShak.

Congrats though on the new deck!

thane1200 - thanks for the advice. It's not so crappy that it's gonna hurt my records, though, right? I guess I need to splurge on the Ortofon that Spinsterwun recommended.

Cheers!

Mad......it should be fine on you vinyl but if your concerned with sound quality as I assume you are (digitizing), them I would definitely get a better cartridge. I might even suggest using a audiophile cart. just don't pull it backwards!
