Nuendo resetting my synthesizers?

Okay, so I'm obviously doing something wrong, but today my friend sent me a midi of a song he made in Guitar Pro, and I want to put it into Nuendo and play the tracks with synthesizers.

I chose Sytrus and Addictive Drums for this. Addictive Drums works fine, but whenever I press "Play", Sytrus resets back to its default instrument, "Detuned Saw", even though I chose a different instrument before that.

Now, at first I thought it was Sytrus. But then I tried Vanguard, and ended up with the same problem; it resets to its default instrument, "Max Fun", or something like that.

Obvoiusly, it's Nuendo. Now, is this just a bug, or do I need to turn something on/off, in order for this to stop happening? Thanks

BTW, it works fine when I start a midi file from scratch, in that case it doesn't reset, but when I import a midi file, such as this, the mentioned problem happens. Anyone have any similar experiences with Nuendo and can help me out? That would be great. :)

Hmmmm. Nuendo you say?:D
Try making some minor mods to the midi file, and renaming it as a new file. Or perhaps create a blank midi file, and copy /paste the data from the files in question. See if you can trick it into behaving.
I've had similar problems with midi files in Reaper, but I can't remember what, if anything I did to solve it.

What the problem is most likely to be is a program change embedded in the midi track. I don't know how Nuendo works, but in Logic, for example, you can go to a list editor, look at the midi, locate the program change and delte it (or set it to a patch that you want). In Reaper, you can go to a midi window and manipulate the program changes along the bottom. Something similar must exist in Nuendo.

MIDI is the devils language!
Hypothetically, if you did create a new midi file, and copy/paste the data in the timeline, would that only give you the note data, or would it include everything contained in the original midi file(note, velocity,program,pitch/mod blahbitty blah blah blah)?
Or is this question way too general/stupid/ignorant?
What did you have for lunch?

My hypothetical response is . . . it depends.

When you create a MIDI track you (usually) start off with a clean slate. When you paste in a midi track from somewhere else, you generally paste in everything associated with that track, including program changes, control changes (pan, velocity etc.) and so on. Sometimes an application will give you the choice about whether to include these or not.

Most of the time, though, it seems you have to edit these things out.

I haven't had lunch yet.
