I've got a NT1000 but as yet havent got around to useing it to record guitar. I read in a mag that it was really well suited to recording distorted guitars. Can anyone tell me what they think aobut the NT1000 and mics amps? I've also got a SM57 which do you think is better?

The NT1000 has worked very well for me on guitar-cabs. It's a good alternative to the 57.

The NT1000 can do almost anything. Kinda like the 4033 in terms of its diversity.

Its probably the most underrated mic right now.

I have done a few tests with the NT1000 on on a 4x12 halfstack. I was very happy the with results in that is sounded much clearer than a 57 and far more true to the room sound that other mics I have used in the past.

The best way I can describe it is that with 57's I always had to readjust the mic position and tweak the amp's controls to get the right sound. With the NT1000 I can make the amp sound the way I like in the room and then I've pretty much got that same sound to tape.
