Chad... If I weren't such a self-absorbed prick, I'd be pissed at that bump. But since it's sitting here...

(By the way, I didn't use any mastering compression at all on this. The fader was on about -8db for the mixdown, which left me a little bit of headroom to just hard limit the final mix per your suggestions in another thread...plus a little advice from Crawdad about using -.5db as a ceiling. Thanks for the bump.

B.SABBATH - That was a very detailed response, and I appreciate it. It figures that my best song ever ("Digital Prelude") would be the one that I recorded in 10 minutes...with effects. I tried laying down another git part per your suggestions, but since I suck, it just cluttered the thing up too much. I did redo the bass, though. I won't be using the autotune anymore on future recordings (unless it's as an effect).


I'm not listening to this song again, and I certainly wouldn't blame anybody else who made the same decision.

THANKS TO JAMAL BUCHET, ERICHENRYUS, GUERNICA, and everyone else who has offered advice on this one. I'm done with it for now, but you know I'll read anything posted here...and probably change the tune again. I love "unfinished" songs.

I heard a quote the other day that reminded me of me...it may have been here, I'm not sure. Anyway, the quote was: "Sound recordings are never finished...they're just abandoned." hehehe...how true it is.
 
Chris, the bass is a little better. Did you raise the B/up's on this mix? I didn't know Jamal did any back-up's on this until I read this thread...Thumbs up Jamal!! Hey don't you ever "abandon" this tune till you get it just the way you want it...I swear it's got top ten hit all over it.

For starters, you can write a tune for sure. Like to pull your own heart strings, don't you!?? Well, they pull mine too even when I can't relate to the particular story/memory/topic/feeling/fuck you I'm human too:D

Without the benefit of a focused read of previous posts, can you turn down the shaker thing? If so, please do. It takes the gits and such over in a molesting sort of way.

I'd a thought that the back-up vox could be better applied closer to center and reinforce the lead vox that threatens to get lost towards the end. I had a though!

Wish I could tell you something to send you on your way but, you're already there dude!
