I just noticed your invite to submit a track. I'll have my electric back monday. Got the updated mix on the platform. If I can do it justice, midweek I'll send it at you.

Wow killer low end on this...sounds great....love the bass guitar...would maybe like to hear just a little more guitar ...but I'm a guitar player so go figure;) Cool song, I dug it!

Thanks Queepy! I just finished listening to this in my car (which definitely has a more pronounced low-end), and to be honest, I agree with you. The guitars were barely audible - however, they sound just fine everywhere else. Hmmm... Maybe I could bump the guitars up just a bit...

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll wait for Jeff's tracks before I modify anything else, but I'll definitely keep it in mind.

Wow... Can't wait to hear what ideas you'll come up with! Thank you, Jeff.

The low end is so insense I swore, before listening and playing along, that it was a step down in D...with everything de-tuned!

The new mix is fuller...and seems like it has a lot less room for improvement. I'll keep listening. Sounds good. "Thugga thugga"

Can you sing cycle 2 of the verses an octave up, like you're pissed???:)

I might have to set up the whammy bar fer this...

It's still pretty muddy to me. It's the bass. There's no articulation between notes. It just mushes from one note to the next. The kick seems to be a little better than i remember, but I'm telling ya, this thing will really thump in a good way with some bass clarity.

That's a crazy sounding song man. Sounds heavy and clear at the same time.

Thank you for listening and commenting, Phil! The whole point of the creation of this song was to work on getting rid of the "harshness" in the mix, while keeping clarity... Seems I've done that. Thanks!

Yeah... If I remember correctly, everything is de-tuned down to D. It's easier to play guitar that way - and for me, right now, that's a very good thing. Still lovin' what I'm learning on it! Thanks for your compliments.

Singing an octave up on 2nd verse.. hmm... That is quite a bit out of my range, so doing it *only* as a lead vocal probably wouldn't be an option, but I could sing some backups an octave up. That might be interesting...

Greg. I'm gonna come break one of your eardrums, mmmmkay? *sigh* - you're right. I have no idea why I didn't think of this before, but the bass track I'm using on there was a very rough take. I hit some wrong notes, and didn't really concentrate on playing the part well when I was recording it. I'm pretty confident this is what is creating the muddy feel; it was pretty muddy playing. I'm gonna have to re-record it. I hate you. :D

Actually, just before reading the last post...still listening...I wuz thinkin' that the L&R guits could use a boost in the tinfoil range.....I gotta 'gree w/ Gerg. But I don't hear mud-inducing slop; I thinks a little EQ voodoo will crisp 'em up??

And....ah yes....my acoustic was tuned standard...I missed the D in the bass..which was the clue [duh] that you'd de-tuned, but played the song in E.

Okay... I don't have much time to post this, but here's a new version with slightly higher guitars (2 db on crunchy 1 db on semi-clean), and an entire newly tracked bass part.

(Sorry I keep updating this on ya, Jeff. I had a few minutes, and couldn't stop myself... :D shame on me :spank:)

Should I - update 3

That tweakage sounds really transparent and alive to me. I think you're ears may be taxed? Like y' found the cerial box, and jumped into it, mebbe....

Very interesting tweakage... Here's the result of my tweaking the EQ in my mastering program according to your guide. To my ears, it sounds quite a bit improved... Let me know what you think.

Should I (update 4)

Ja, mon: Kinda split the diff? Sounds better to me.

Might be later this week...or next: the student who borrowed my guitar cancelled his lesson...hope he brings it soon. And I got a humpin' schedule until, like, two weeks from now. And I'm backpacking on a weak satlink from a neighbor....my usual modem is kabluey. Slow; and only occasionally available. Don't let me hold you up any. I'm gonna sing and play nasty whammy crap. Just fer yucks. I hear stuff. Don't know if I can pull off anything y' like. But I'll send it when it's done.:)

Perfect, man. I'm not in any hurry. If you'll remember, I was about 2 months late working on your tune... It'll be cool hearing what you come up with.

Thanks again for the EQ tweak suggestions. Worked out quite well. I love learning new stuff.
